surely a company on the scale of iceland would have been using the applicable health and safety guidance at that time, otherwise this would leave them open to all previous employees taking action against them.
I would have thought the doctors was the first stop before thinking about who you can get some money out of...

You might have had a chance with a claim if you had the right medical evidence nearer the time it happened. Now you are almost certainly beyond the limitation dates (normally 3 or 6 years for most cases) so you'd need to prove that you'd only just discovered the injury (clearly not the case) and still get a medical report stating that this condition is likely to have been caused by the work in question.

The crux is that even if Iceland were definitely at fault, and you can get evidence now that connects the condition of your hand to the work without gloves, the law sets time limits on bringing claims and you are almost certainly beyond them. If you want to be certain try and find a no-win no-fee lawyer to take it on - chances are you won't find one because they won't consider your chances of winning high enough to take a risk on you.

Really, had cold hands for a 2 week period and now claim 8 years later it has caused problems. God forbid you had an idea like, I will buy a cheap pair of gloves to keep my delicate hands warm.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of Iceland apparently not providing you with appropriate protective clothing, I would imagine that (as NeilWoods says) there is an amount of contributory negligence on your part.

For some reason I remember a quote from Biggles, commenting on an aviator getting lost, "Maps aren't expensive." Neither are gloves.

I can't believe that you are trying this on!
If you try to claim off Iceland, all they have to say is that in the intervening time we have had 7 winters' worth of sub-zero temperatures. most lasting longer than 2 weeks.
    In other words no chance.

Look at the last page on that thread, I won as the College didn't counter against my argument within the given time frame. I believe they knew they were in the wrong...

Good for you with your hands I don't really care about yours by the way...

lol did we run around bare naked in those winters, I believe everyone had clothes on...

Why is one of my hands not hurting whilst the other is giving me discomfort?

You can say what you like, if you or anyone else feels that I'm trying it on then feel free to believe that. I don't have to really prove anything to you, I know I'm not trying it on.
