When I was young I worked for Icelands supermarket for 2 weeks, which was a good 7 or 8 years ago. I know what I'm saying could be deemed as petty by some but to me its not.
I used to stack frozen food in Icelands and I wasn't supplied with personal protective equipment (safety gloves) to this day my skin on my hand is so sore and irritating. I used to hate stacking the freezers so much that I only used to use my right hand and my skin now hasn't got better at all over the years. I voiced my concern to the then manager back then but still wasn't given gloves so eventually I walked out on the job. The skin on my left hand is perfectly fine but my right hand I'm convinced is permanently like this, it like I've got eczema on my right hand.
I just wanted to know do I have any grounds to make a claim against Icelands for Health and Safety reasons, if so how can I go about it.
All help appreciated.

Can you prove an event 8 years back is the cause of all your current woes? Do you have a medical assessment and expert witness? Without those your chances are negligible.0

Good points Paddy, but surely working there would give some support it was part of my role to stack then...
Not sure about witnesses its literally my word against theres. But I'm hoping to go to the doctors and get it checked out because its giving me real discomfort0 -
Could you not have got yourself a cheap pair of gloves? Sorry but the compo culture really winds me up. There doesn't always have to be someone else to blame.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0

You would have virtually no chance of a successful claim at this late stage. You'd have to prove that it was caused by your time working there, and not by any earlier or later incident - virtually impossible to do. It wouldn't be up to Iceland to prove it wasn't. In addition, it is unlikely (not impossible) that a two-week stint would have had such a lasting effect (and I have some academic and practical qualification to state that).0

You are way out of time, you have 3 years to make a claim of this sort.
You really need to move on.
Smother it in vaseline on a night before bed and put a glove on.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I don't see why I should to be honest, its a basic health and safety requirement that they should oblige.0

Hi gvw121.
I think you may want to ask for your post to be moved to the relevant forum - most people post and lurk on the techie forum for help and advice on....well....Techie problems-the techie people here are a knowledgeable bunch but you'd probably be better off asking your question in the Employment forum or CAB section.0 -
Having seen the date....LMAO0

your an idiot, you think that something you did for a couple of hours during a 2 week period causes a problem? you weren't handling nuclear fuel. Move on and find the real reason for your scabby hand.0
