We had our cheap and cheerful ProLine dishwasher for over 11 years with no call-outs or repairs. Had to replace it this year and chose a Bosch - this cost about three times as much and takes about three times as long.....

We have a Bosch, I didn't mention it before as we've only had it a year. It's a super water efficient one as we have a water meter so I was conscious of water use. Anyway, it has an express wash that takes 35 minutes and we use this 90% of the time with excellent results.

Have had a Bosch for about 15/16 years now. The toprails have started to wear & I replaced the bottom ones last year - from freecycle!

I think a few years ago that there were many negative comments re Bosch dishwashers - surprising as they've always had a good reputation - but those particular ones seemed to have all been made in the USA.
  • Thanks for all the brilliant comments everyone. I reckon I'm going with Bosch.
The model SMS40A08GB is under £400 including 2 years parts+labour guarantee. I'll probably pay the extra £80-£100 (depending on retailer) to extend the guarantee to 5 years. Sorted!

Buying the extended warranty is simply not necessary. It's covered for one or two years anyway, and white goods are generally reliable. Beyond that, if you really must, buy an extended warranty direct from the insurer. Buying it via the retailer doubles the cost.

Bosch offer a 2 year warranty as long as you register it with them-otherwise it's one year.
So in effect the same as JL offer.

  • Bosch, Siemens, NEff all from same BSH Group have 2 years warranty as standard and as someone said above certain models have 5 years parts and labour warranties at certain times. Check out the manufacturers website and also check local independent electrical stores for any possible end of line goods that may still come with full warranty
Our Siemens was one of these and was £300 3 years ago and no problems to date
  • If you are considering paying c£500 incl. 5 year warranty then you may want to consider buying one that has a higher base price I.e. higher spec but that comes with the warranty included. The below link shows you which Siemens get the current warranty offer. You can find your local retail partner from the Siemens site. At mine the SN26M253 is £539 as per other link below.

Avoid Baumatic. Cheap and well, cheap. :( Only lasted about 5-6 years, with a few repairs along the way.

Dad has a Bosch that's still going strong after 12 years odd.
We now have a Bosch, still fine after 4 years odd.

Had good experience with AEG stuff (for other appliances). Miele and Fisher & Paykel are supposed to be good too.
