    THANK YOU
    :o:o

Just had a chat with Tigerfeet and she agrees... with our current wages things are tight but we can get by for our lifestyle...

...we'd be debt free if it wasn't for our debts:mad:  !!!

They're all from before we moved in here, mostly failed business time and Tigerfeet's illness etc etc.

We have no credit cards and don't want them. No one will give us a loan, we don't want one. No one will give us a contract phone, we do regret this sometimes but we get by. No one will give us a mortgage (we assume) but we couldn't afford repayments on one just now so that is ok. We sometimes get a small surplus where we can save for new things for the house when freecycle can't help which we could (SHOULD??) use to repay old debts but that we need to save for essentials that wear out (clothes, beds, matresses, car whatever... freecycle does help but not always) and we need to do this as we can't get a loan... and we don't want one (although the GET IT NOW on luxuries is always a bit of a pang in shops).

If the debts were cleared we could start saving properly and rebuild our credit etc for the day we could afford to buy a house, we could also get a contract phone for a much cheaper rate and package than prepay etc...

    Thank you for you replies!:T

    Hi Alan & Tigerfeet

Welcome to the board, as you can already see regular posters on this board will gladly help you in anyway they can.

I noticed from a few of your posts that you seemed to feel the need to defend the situation you are in, please don't. We all know exactly how you are feeling and emotions this situation can impose on you. We are not here to question the reasons you are in this situation but to offer a few helpful words whenever we can.

For you really to be able to get started on making a concrete decision I would suggest that you do a SOA (statement of Affairs) showing your income, expenditure & list of debts. Then speak to one of the FREE debt counselling agencies. I tried both CCCS and Paypal and both were very helpful.

Post your SOA here if you feel able to do so and I'm sure there will be somebody who will look over it for you.

CCCS are really good cos they have an online service that is very comprehensive and allows you the option to go back and change things and re-enter stuff etc.
I found payplan really weird. The lady I spoke to made me feel really funny about saying figures out loud to her. i felt a bit intimidated and ended up saying really low figures to make it look better.... DOH.

I have to say I did wonder about Paypal!,:D

On an aside what was the paypal scam (was it th phishing emails... been getting a lot of those)?

The plan at the moment is to really take stock of who we owe money to and do a full income/expenditure report which'll be fun but we need to do it now before anything else... need it for the baliff guy who we've got to call within 5 days or they'll kick down our door and take belongings 'cause they've got a list and a piece of paper that says the belongings are now theirs in law.

    Thanks to all.

Looked at IVA but I really don't think we have sufficient spare cash to pay them... then again got to find the £700 or so needed to list as Bankrupt somehow:mad:
