Just to let you know the Co-op approved the account. Dawn called them up to tell them about bankcruptcy but was greeted by a friendly assistant who told her that the account had already been approved.

    Job done.

Just got to sign some forms and thats that.

Incidentally the phone lassies at Co-op were very friendly to Dawn on both occasions, genuine people not your usual call-room robots. The first time she had a 20 minute chat about being pregnant before they got onto the account stuff, lol.

Anyhoo, another thing bites the dust.

I'm afraid it stalled. Dawn is in hospital this weekend with extreme pain.

  • Alan, sorry to hear about Dawn. Hope she gets well soon.

Fingers crossed this is only a temporary glitch in your BR quest.

    Take care.
  • i've just discovered this board as i'm reading up on the possibilities of bankruptcy. what a magnificent bunch you all are- offering help, advice and your own time to people in distress. a big pat on the back to all of you. i doubt that without all this support, aland and tigerfoot wouldn't have progressed so far, so quickly. well done.

    Too true.

Things aren't good at the moment. Amazing how much a NHS stay costs, patientline, petrol, parking, takeaways (no time to cook, barely enough to eat), more petrol etc etc.

Freezer replaced with a borrowed one from my parents but it is only temporary until we can find one on freecycle. Still lost LOADS of food, LOADS... saved some but it needed cooking, some gone off etc I think we can claim on insurance but if we get back on track I'm guessing that is just another cheque for the OR to take.

Dawn is getting better. She is in a great deal of pain. The baby is fine and they've only got a few dozen ideas on what it is.

Most worrying and frustrating to say the least.

Hopefully just a temporary set back.

Thank you to everyone for your support, it does mean a lot.

Don't I know it - I've spent a lot of time in hospital over the last few years, & I'm going back in later on Tuesday for at least a week. I've had to take £100 cash with me to allow for Patientline costs, & to cover me if I have to stay in for longer - last time I was told I'd be there a few days, & ended up being there a month. I know it's only a small saving, but if Dawn's still in hospital ring Patientline on 0800 959 3100 to get an update on their prices. There have a been a lot of complaints about their costs over the last couple of years, with the result that they're changing the pricing structure at loads of hospitals around the UK. At my hospital (as of 30 April) they'll be charging £2.90 per day, which will include 24 hours of tv & free internet. If you pay for 3 days it's £7 & 5 days is £10. I don't see any reason why you can't use the internet while you're there, especially if you pull the curtains around & can't be seen. :)

Also, take a look at Martin's page here for the deals on phonecalls, as you might find it cheaper to contact each other by mobile if you arrange a certain time of day to keep the phone on. I'll be keeping my hospital costs down by using the free internet, Martin's page on cheaper phone calls & texts. :)

All the best to Dawn & to you - I know it's hard work, but you're doing really well, definitely better than you think. :)

    Thank you.

She is out today but we had all kinds of hassle with patientline (nice idea to be honest, lets not get too nasty about it, the IDEA is excellent, internet, phone, TV and radio on your bedside... I want one at home but it is too costly and has too many teething problems), card reader not working, phone cutting out when she rang out, mouse not working on keyboard and so on.

Unfortunately mobiles were not an option on this particular ward. Ok in delivery and at her cottage hospital (where baby will eventually be born (we hope)). Outright ban there mainly (I think) because of the monitoring and communication equipment, lots of wireless points around the place that receive weak signals from equipment to inform about their location and status etc. She couldn't get out of bed to leave the ward to call either so that kiboshed that unfortunately.

    Very tired now. Hating work.

    Thank you to all.

    Alan
