    Oooooooh they HAVE to???

    Theres an idea...

Shame we can't do that with electric... on a key... have to make sure they take the ancient arrears off that so we're only paying electric.

Thanks for that, didn't think about the fact that they'd HAVE to keep us on the books.

    There you go !

Make sure your !!!!!! hot on EVERYONE who you owe money too.. Dont pay them anymore...

Infact.. Did you know it is a 'credit' offence (OR's Words) to pay anyone anything ttowards debt when you know you are or are going to be insolvent !

Or KNOW you are going to be?

Will that stand up with the baliff that has taken a list of possessions and has threatened to break in with the court order they have with them?

Will it stand up with the electric company to get the arrears off the key meter?

Interesting... an Offence! One wouldn't want to break the law would one?

Just read a post that implied that Council Tax arrears can still be persued after bankcruptcy. PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!

Still panicky about whether council tax is included or not. Also looks like long waiting lists at the 3 local courts, which would mean either we'd have to file sooner than we'd like (££££££wise) or that we go on a list and then file near the time... not sure which it is we have to do.

A friend of mine registered for br yesterday to the tune of £38,000. Blames his partner for his downfall. However he has just got a new job and salary of £17,000 per year. My question is would he be able to keep his salary or would be be expected to try and pay something back.
    Any help appreciated.

Good question (and interesting to me too as that is almost exactly the figures I've got £39000 owed and pay cut to round £17000 next year). From what I can tell it will be down to the OR but if anyone has any ideas on this I'd be VERY interested... plus, of course, if Council Tax (domestic and nondomestic) are written off with bankcruptcy?

Without knowing his expenditure, that's an impossible question to answer. If he was living with his parents with no bills to pay, then his chances of being asked to pay something towards his BR costs would be far higher than someone who's got a home to pay for, child maintenance etc to pay. The Official Receiver will take a lot of factors into account before making a decision.

Alan .. Back to your Council tax. We owed 2004 £1300 in Liverpool.. Never paid any and the bailiffs were about to start. Then Business rates for 2006 in Wigan £1400, then £500 in our area now..

It was a bit of a battle with the current tax, but its all done.. I have loads of letters and emails if you ever find its a problem. We had a new account opened at the start of this financial year.

They can add the Ctax if you re in arrears, if you are up to date then they cant add any of that years.

Hope that helps. Make sure you add ALL arrears !

It is all from tax years long back so I guess that means it'll be ok. Phew!

Well that is the first week since we decided to do this down...

Failed to contact CCCS or Payplan so this MUST be done next week.

MAY have enough info to finish off expenditure part of form.

Have started to read the bankcruptcy info but not all of it by far.

    Have saved £70.

Have sorted out the housing issue, spoken to the Head, spoken to line manager and head of department and have spoken to the union rep.

Have sorted some things for sale.

Not as good as I'd hoped but we're getting there.

    Ahhh well...
