NSD #16 for me yesterday :j
I also managed a little bonus.I checked my gas & electricity meter readings in with my supplier and I was in credit so I have asked for the money to be refunded to me and my monthly direct debit to be recalculated. I am now £100 richer and have my payments reduced by £10 a month. :j:j A good days work I reckon :T
Have a brilliant Saturday :beer:Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -

Good morning folks from a very cold NI:eek:
I've had a busy enough week with work and my mum being in hospital etc, but things are ok:). My mum will need an operation and will be staying in hospital for the next 3-4 weeks until she has it, but is in the best place as she was quite sick.:(. However, she has improved dramatically since Tuesday, so hopefully everything will be ok:).
I am declaring NSDs 8&9 for Wednesday and Thursday:). Yesterday wasn't as I had to do some grocery shopping and although I am working today, it definitely won't be an NSD either. I haven't yet had a chance to catch up on the posts, but hope everyone is ok and send hugs to those who need them.:)
Freeby, no apology necessary if you have missed anyone on the update, as everyone appreciates you updating the forum:):TIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
£2 savings jar £300:D

Anyway, had a think about budgeting for next year and have devised a plan to save up with a safety cushion for next year's MOT and service to put a monthly savings plan in place.
I started around this time last year with the car ..... it's hard work at first - although if you start now with a full year until it's needed again, it should be OK as just normal monthly amounts needed (I had to overpay to mine by huge amounts at the start to get enough in them for when needed).marmiterulesok wrote: »I hope that your budgeting plans work out.It does take a bit of discipline, but is so worth it.
Budgeting really has changed my life for the better.:D
Couldn't put it better Marmite:) - need to work on the "Others" pot next year as this has fallen by the wayside(Dentist, Hair, Glasses, Clothes & Presents) and was cleared out to try to counter the OD:o:eek:
Have a lovely weekend off :Tfreebyfifty wrote: »I checked my gas & electricity meter readings in with my supplier and I was in credit so I have asked for the money to be refunded to me and my monthly direct debit to be recalculated. :j:j Brilliant news Freeby
Well, I've managed to make £67 this week:
- Goodwill gesture from utility co as they didn't turn up to service the boiler on the day that they were supposed to (8 - 5:30 call out time and NO phone call to say they weren't coming ).
- Refund of overpayment taken by Gas & Elec company + goodwill gesture (and they've finally amended the d/debit this month:T)
- Sold some cat food on the pet forum - someone came up with the idea of selling odd tins / pouches etc. Brilliant as they now nearly all come in multi-paks - inevitably they don't like one flavour in the pack or (in my case) you buy something to try & the wee [STRIKE]sods [/STRIKE]darlings won't eat it. So glad I'm not the only one with fussy cats :rotfl:
- Refund of cat's cancelled insurance policy - took out a cheaper one but still good company & actually a higher level of cover
Wish I could do that every week!:D:o
Have a lovely weekend all......Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Able to declare NSD #5 for yesterday :-)
Thanks for responses re. rules Marmite, Ifwishes, Freebyfifty - really useful to hear how other people do it. Nargleblast- that's the approach I've been taking and it's working well for me. I am trying to underspend on my budgeted for pots as part of 1% challenge so this one is really helping with that and getting me to think through spending decisions every day. The only expenditure I'm still including as NSD is eBay postage as that's been paid for by the buyer.
Today won't be a NSD but will keep as low spend as possible. Also going to make use of free listing weekend on eBay. Have a good weekend all.Total money owed: [STRIKE]31/07/11- £17,877[/STRIKE], LBM - 14/10/12 :j, 01/06/13 - £0 DEBT FREE!!!!
New challenge- save an extra £5000 from non-salary -£1600 (32%)0 -
