If you moved house, did you use the passport as id for that?
I would bday with OH not go away.
Ooh, good idea, every time I've bought a house i've had to leave my passport with the solicitor or the mortgage lender for a bit. Did you do that at all? Might it be with your property documents?0 -
You wont get out of Britain without a passport.
Full stop.
Just keep looking.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If you shoved the passport in a drawer last time you used it, check it hasn't fallen down the back of the drawer into the one below, or even under the cabinet the drawer is in.
What were you wearing when you last used it? What bags/suitcases did you take? Have you needed it for ID purposes, for example opening/closing bank account? Have you put it "somewhere safe"? On top of a cupboard? Under the mattress?
Hope you find it.
Funnily enough this happened to me, it was down the back of a chest of drawers.
Hope you find it, I wouldn't go on my own.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
A friend of mine realised (at the airport) that she'd left hers on the photocopier, while making copies of the vital page to ensure that she didn't lose her passport. She was able to laugh about it later...They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

Maybe instead of posting on here, we all need to come round to yours and help with the search :rotfl:Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
You know chocaholic, I don't think it would help, we've almost given up now. Only thing left is to check in the chest of drawers with our clothes in. I have not seen the passport in there but it's the last place left to double-check!
(We've checked all the places you suggest that apply to us! We didn't need any ID documents to sign the lease, and own no car)
I think I've lost the interest in going by myself. OH is more tired and cranky now - I realise that he probably didn't feel like he minded me going because he thought until the last minute that he would find the passport. Ever the optimist!, until he loses faith. He's also more likely than me to indiscriminately feel bad about spending money - sometimes I have to convince him that treating ourselves is a legitimate use of our savings.
Tomorrow at 6am we'll be on the phone to British Airways to see if we can sort something for amend at least part of the flight. (The return flight was a Norwegian low cost airline so I doubt they do refunds).
Total losses are £450 which are roughly half of our monthly savings, so it's not even like it's too much, when put in proportion. Also, I have taken this surprisingly well (normally I would have gotten angry at him for not looking for his passport before, and soured the whole weekend) so I should take the opportunity to laugh about it, and leave the selfish travelling by myself for the time he does it again and I get soooo mad! :P
I don't think we'll do any cheap travelling (but it's a good suggestion) but to be honest I've quite enjoyed the throwing away old stuff whilst looking for the passport so I think a weekend of "doing house things" and maybe baking a cake from scratch and doing something couply for a few days wouldn't go amiss. We've just been looking forward to having a bit of a break, as opposed to the trip in itself - we hadn't even had the time to plan our days or come up with an itinerary yet!!

This happened to my OH. We tracked it down the PO depot where he had to go to pick up a parcel and he needed an ID. One other suggestion- has he been asked to sign new passport photos and fill in the sections for a friends passport form?weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

So! Passport didn't turn up, it is £180 to change the flight with BA (which was £140 total to start with), £60 to change the return flight, and a probable £25 on top for Opodo admin fee (if they try to charge me anyway for just cancelling I'll scream seen as I've managed to speak to all other customer services people one hour before they even opened).
It's definitely not worth changing flights as we wouldn't be able to go until February anyway and so booking anew is less expensive than changing!
Now on to checking whether hotel is at all refundable but nobody seems to be taking pity on me so I don't have my hopes up on that one -- cancelling with less than 72 hours notice is a 3 night charge, and that's how long we were staying...
It's really helped deciding I wouldn't go on my own in advance, otherwise it would have just added onto today's stress, so thanks for helping me understand my feelings better!Saving £10,000 in 2013: £4491.48/£10,0000
