There are no rules meaning you are exempt from WFIs during a period when you're appealing a decision.
Thank you Roger, I just couldn't make head nor tail of the rules and regulations you'd written. Looks like I shall just have to go.
It does worry me that this is all another way the government can put people in the wrag group - by saying 'you attended the work related activity' therefore you've been placed in the right group! Or am I being too cynical. Nowt surprises me with this government0 -
Oh thanks for the warning! If anyone tries to extract personal information from me in front of the public I will simply clam up and then state I can't divulge any personal information in public, which is what it is. I can't believe they are doing that, and what business is it of theirs whether you own or your own home?0

I think you can ask for a private room in which to have the interview. I would certainly ask for that if I had to attend another WFI.0 -
I rang up my local job centre last week and spoke to the lady who is seeing me on Monday. I told her I was appealing and have issues with being in public and she was nice about it and said she ring me at home rather than have to go in. I thought that was very nice of her at least I dont for now have to go to JC
The Cab are also helping me via MIND charity and they also asked my wife if she can right as part of an appeal how I am effected day to day. The cab got back to me and said letter hopefully may help. I also provided letter from my GP which said I suffer from anxiety, depression and social exclusion0 -

Tomorrow is Saturday so you wouldn't be paid then. You will hower be paid up till the date you failed the 'medical' When was your last payment You can appeal the decision and have one one month from the date of the letter giving you the decision. While appealing you must send in fit-notes and will get the assesement rate of ESA.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how much the sanction is for not going to the wfi?
I won an esa tribunal and the doc at the tribunal said I shouldn't be reassessed for a year so that I could go away, get well and not be harrassed (his words)....
....soooooo even with chronic fatigue / depression / anxiety etc they put me in the wrag group regardless and are now insisting that I come every 2 weeks - even tho my docs say that I shouldn't even think about work stuff until the end of the year. I have to travel on public transport for 45 mins each way to get there, the office is noisy, crowded, the lights hurt my eyes, and frankly all that effort is not for any good reason whatsoever.
I already have a treatment program that IS working put together by consultant and GP but the advisor will not acknowledge this or work with it...I go and it messes me up for 4 days straight - and I'm not able to do that much as it is!
Anyway, if I decided not to go because its doing more harm than good and I just don't have the energy or brainpower to deal with paperwork or another appeal - does anyone know what would be the £ consequence to me?
Thank you for your help,

I cannot understand how if people do not agree, as neither did the HCP & DWP that someone's illness was sufficient enough not to have to go for WFI, they react by calling a long standing member a Troll.
My opinon goes for anyone. If you chose to claim state handouts, you have to accept the rules attached to recieving them.
Whether anyone considers an in growing toenail to be cause enough to receive ESA or not. They have to accept the rules allied with it. If you have an illness that cannot be proven in the same manner as say, the loss of both legs, you must expect to be under closer scrutiny than others?
People making certain statements should also watch out for their previous postings, the truth will find you out!0 -
I have been placed in the WRAG, and have been appealing since nov. last year to be put in the support group, I attended 1 meeting at the work programe and was then told, after they checked my records on the computer, that as I am appealing the decision, then I don't have to attend any more until I've had the outcome of the appeal, they went by this
When can customers appealing against decisions on ESA be referred to the Work Programme?
A. Claimants appealing against their work Capability Assessment (WCA) outcome are exempt from the Work Programme until the appeal outcome is known. The appeal outcome determines their eligibility point for referral to the Work Programme. If, as a result of the appeal they fall within one of the mandatory referral points the customer will be referred at the relevant point based on their prognosis (this could be immediately)
This is from the FAQs on the DWP site, I will put up the whole page if anyone wants me to, I just thought I would put the relevant part for this post.0 -
This was my understanding too. If appealing you must attend the first interview, tell them you are appealing, (which they confirmed on my computer file in my case), and generally will not have to attend others till the appeal outcome. I can't vouch personal experience because my ESA was incorrectly stopped at the first interview so following interviews were not applicable in my case (ESA restored at reconsideration stage of appeal).
I suppose it is possible that not all jobcentres will follow this depending on their targets (which do not exist!)0
