  • snap. Plus spot cleaning the bits where I've dripped tea/coffee/wine :)

I'd be a bit wary of a vax actually, too much water is apparently bad for it. Plus you'd feel you had to wash more often to make it worthwhile buying the vax and the whole point of wood floors is that you don't have to vacuum - for me anyway :)

    Hi

I can't find any dry floor wipes to clean the wooden floors with. Have tried various shops but none in stock! Found them great for picking up dust and hairs etc. Anyone use anything else as an alternative?

  • Hi you could use microfibre cloths you can buy them in poundland in packs of 3, when the cloth gets dirty you can wash them in the washing machine hth.

I use a microfibre mop. Mine's from Lakeland, but you can get them much cheaper now. I dampen the mop head, and don't need any cleaner. It's great ;)

I'll add this to the exising wooden floor cleaning thread to keep ides together.

  • I know it costs but I would get a professional in to strip and seal the floors it is worth it because it keeps the floors looking good for years and protects them from scuff marks and water damage

  • I have a wooden floor in the kitchen and there are some marks/ stains on the floor near the fridge where my flatmate left a carton of milk on it's side and it leaked onto the floor. I think water leaked from the fridge at some stage too leaving a stain where the floor colour looks lighter than the rest. There is also one small (size of a 50p piece) stain on the floor near the cooker (not sure what from). I have tried using a wooden floor cleaning product (a sample size spray from Earth Friendly products) but it made no real difference. :( The owner/landlord is coming to inspect the flat on Sunday so it would be great if I could remove or at least improve the stainns before then. It is a proper wooden floor not laminate.
    Any ideas?

Also have a wooden shelf in the bathroom which has lots of stains from where my flatmate (yes, again) has placed shaving gel, deoderant, toothpaste etc and there are lots of dark marks / stains which won't budge. Might try to post a seperate thread about that with a picture to explain it better though.

Hey all, I am a newbie to this green cleaning thing (which is going fantastic by the way)... my home used to pong and now it smells really lovely, and have even found a place locally to buy vinegar and bicarb in bulk at a cheap rate :money:

my question is i want to clean my hardwood floors (wax finish) with vinegar ane olive oil, but would like to know if it leaves the floor a bit slippery as I have a 1yr old who just started to walk about a month ago.

Any advice would be much appreciated
