That's ok! It's the name of a song that I like by Belle and Sebastian (fey indie band) and I gather that that is what the song is about (but if anyone can enlighten me, then please do so!)

    Hi, LJ,

God, this takes me back! I loved this song!

I'll let one of the band members tell you what "Lazy Line Painter" is slang for - taken from the Q&A's section of their website...

lol, are you sure you want to keep your nickname?? ;)

Here are some the great lyrics:

    ...You are in two minds
Tossing a coin to decide whether you should tell your mum
About a dose of thrush you got while you were licking railings

But you read in a book
That you got free in Boots
There are lotions, there are potions
You can take to hide your shame from all those prying eyes

    Lazy Jane, all the time
    Painting lines
You are sleeping at bus stops
Wondering how you got your name
And what you're going to do about it

  • Showing my age now, aren't I? Hee hee!

Despite my shock (and embarrassment!) :o I think I'll stick with it, it may give someone else a laugh!

B&S have plenty of qualty songs in their repertoire, may I recommend The Boy With The Arab Strap and Come into my Office, Baby?

I almost choked on my cuppa when I first saw your nickname, and then I read the post asking for enlightenment I couldn't resist!!

Because I'm such a sweetie, I did consider just sending a PM but decided that as you stated you felt like an "outsider" in your original post, it'd be a great icebreaker.

    Welcome to MSE, Lazy Jane!!

p.s. Glad you saw the funny side - I would have removed the post on request otherwise :)

EDIT: Here's a special treat for being such a good sport: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUXNCTFEURE&mode=related&search=

Boots do their own value range. Their shampoo is 33p and the conditioner is 34p. They also do toothpaste for 19p and soap for 26p amongst other things. They are all very good.

Just thought (another thing! Sorry guys) my girls suffer from dry eczema, especially in the summer. I've got some Oilatum that I was given on prescription when my little one had to have some Hydrocortisone, but I don't want to buy it as it's quite expensive. What about cheap bath stuff for sensitive skin (don't care if it's own brand or not, as long as it's affordable!)

Hi LLPJ from one newbie to another :D

I promise I'm not nuts but just another mum with eczema sufferers (both me & kids) - here are my two top tips in order of preference and they work wonders for us:
    1. PORRIDGE OATS - Pour about an inch into the bottom of a (clean) stocking/tight/pop sock and swish around in the bath until the water goes cloudy - bathe as normal
    1. OLD GERMAN RECIEPE - 3 Parts Zinc & Castor Oil cream to 1 Part Friars Balsam - apply as you would hydrocortizone cream

The oats worked for my daughter when nothing else did and the cream for me - HTH

    Hi Jane

Yes I do wash their hair with shampoo - and conditioner too whenever they catch headlice, which has been quite a few times.....

I buy the shampoo and conditioner in the supermarket along with the grocery shop - I don't know if it's the cheapest but it's the most convenient. Sainsbury's do big bottles of both for 29p.
