Hi Snaggles, if your GP has confirmed that your daughters have eczema, you should be able to get the Oilatum free on prescription for them. Ask at your Surgery.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Carol, it's actually my daughters that get dry eczema, but it's not an ongoing problem, usually all it is is very dry skin that they can't stop scratching and only occasionally are they (usually my youngest) scratching so much it goes red and bleeds. When this happens I get a bottle of Oilatum on prescription, but I don't think I could get an ongoing one for them because as eczema goes, it's not interefering with their everyday life, it's just an irritation.

LLPJ, I think your GP will be quite happy to put Oilatum on repeat prescription for your daughter if you explain that the eczema returns when she stops using it. No point paying for something you can get prescribed free for a child.

I love own brand hair conditioners - I think it's Sainsburys that do a lovely one marshmallow and summat - in a big bottle too! Can't remember what it's called exactly as I'm using Dove stay-in conditioner at the mo as it was BOGOF and keeps my hair luverly!

  • That's ok! It's the name of a song that I like by Belle and Sebastian (fey indie band) and I gather that that is what the song is about (but if anyone can enlighten me, then please do so!)

    Hi there

My kids don't really use any bath products at all - just plain water seems to keep them clean! Plus soap for handwashing at other times.

  • Hiya!

I try and use as little bath products as possible, but my eldest is 7 and as she washes herself, she much prefers to use 'something' on the flannel rather than nothing. Of course, then my 3 year old has to copy! Bubble baths are strictly treat only, though, as we don't have a shower (although the council are supposed to be fitting them soon!)

Do you just wash their hair in plain water or do you add something?

LLPJ - E45 bath is good for eczema but I don't think it's cheap! Try using soap free products like cream bars and also get her to cut down on dairy products.
Hope her condition improves - eczema is not much fun.
