Anyone Else Dreading Christmas?

Hi All,
As I approach 29 I've found myself for the first time ever dreading the thought of Christmas and everything that leads up to it. I'm not a Scrooge and in the past I loved Christmas. However the past few months have been extremely difficult for me as I've started to miss my ex partner whom I broke up with last October and to be honest I've never really moved on from them despite trying but they have very much moved on from me. I was foolish and naive to end the relationship but while I'm now more knowledgeable I am nevertheless along. It's extremely difficult seeing friends and family members all happy and settling down while I remain very much adrift. I've found myself looking forward to nothing anymore and the thought of Christmas music and happy couples everywhere put me on a real downer, even though I'm happy for the couple involved.
Anyone else feel like this around Christmas and how have you coped dealing with loneliness? To be honest I've pretty much been alone all my life, I lost my best friend in 2009 and my ex in 2011 and life has been a difficult world since.

I'm feeling this way this year.
Christmas is normally a very big family occasion for me but due to a complaint at work about me having a 2nd Christmas off in a row despite it being verbally agreed I am now having to work Christmas & New Year so will be on my own.
Maybe have a good think about what you would like to do with your day and stick to it. Maybe just the thought of spending all day in your pj's eating junk food and watching films is your idea of a relaxing day. Or maybe you are the kind who wants to get out and about so plan a nice long walk somewhere.
I really hope life picks up for you xxFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

My thoughts exactly.

Oh yes, at 25 I will be spending it the same way as the past 24 years, single, sick (for the last 6) and at home with my Mum. No young children in the family and won't see any family until Boxing Day (Nan's birthday which is nice).
No car to go anywhere and eating out is out of the question on several fronts.
Grandad died last month too it will be very depressing this year0 -
Awk I feel quite sad reading this thread
I dont really have any suggestions on what to do but I will most definitely be thinking about all the people out there that will be lonely this xmas.

Christmas didn't really happen for me last year - mum got ill at the beginning of December and then died at the end of that month. Christmas day was spent with her at home on a hospital bed, unable to swallow and drifting in and out.
Now, as halloween, fireworks and then christmas arrive, I'm remembering last year and it's bitter-sweet.
The trouble is that the world is full of images of the perfect christmas - full of happy families, perfect pressies and luscious food. I'm trying to hang on to the fact that this is unrealistic. Virtually no-one has this perfect time.
The old boys sit asleep after watching the Bond film on TV (farting and snoring), the kids fight, the washing up piles high in the kitchen and the turkey never looks as golden and juicy as on the adverts.
So, what I'm remembering is that perfection doesn't really exist... so, I'm going to please myself and spoil myself with some really expensive choccies and my favourite DVDs (OH is cooking pasta - not a turkey in sight) and we are going to 'chill-ax' - sorted my way, not the expected way.
What would you love to do to spoil yourself?:hello:0 -

My mum died this year and I don't really have any other family so Christmas won't be much fun for me either. I think I will just get a stack of DVDs in.0
