I'm logging on quickly from my work to say that I have just had an offer accepted on what will make a lovely family home on the street I grew up on as a kid (from 6 months to 10 years)!!! :j:j:j:j:j

It's a bit of a project which suits me just fine. I could never in a million years afford this house if it was all done up

Big, big thanks to everyone who contributes to the finds on this thread because the savings I have made (and hopefully will continue to make) will help speed the renovation along :beer:

I can't believe my daughter will be going to the same school as I did. :eek:My mum still lives in the area and can't wait to walk her to/from school when she's old enough :j
    Sounds perfect x

    :(

I'm dreading tonight - It's the AGM of the Community Hall & I have said I'm not going to be Treasurer anymore.
Unfortunately no one else is interested or wants to be on the committee.
It's just we are going nowhere - we have meetings to discuss meetings. Money in the Bank that I can't get anyone to agree to spend it on the Hall.
We could of replaced the windows - I got quotes done over a year ago but no - instead we pay a fortune for heating over another winter.
Bought hand driers months ago, to save on having to wash towels all the time. Now we have to have a meeting to discuss having them fitted???:mad::mad:
Bought 2 fabulous red notice boards to replace the tatty ones. These got put up & look grand. We need another 2 to complete the replacements but I can't get them as we need to have a meeting first :(
I do feel bad but it's been the same people on the committee for the last 15 years & no one can have any input - :wall:

Its the simplest soup ever and really healthy and can be used as the base for loads of soups. I just use loads of carrots, swede, onions and celery. Chuck it all in a saucepan for a while to soften, then strain it but keep the water.Whizz up all the cooked veg with a blender then add the veg water back in.Roast a whole chicken and pick off all the meat and chuck that in too. Then add chicken stock cubes or whatever seasoning you want, I usually chuck an oxo cube in too and thats it:T:TI use a huge pot, 2 bags of ready done carrot & swede (Its always whoopsied) a whole celery and two onions. I normally boil the chicken carcass to get stock as well, then freeze it for next time I make soup. Didnt do it this time because of being on a diet and not too sure if it would add "calories" If you do that it really tastes good too.

    Happy birthday 3010 :bdaycake:

Thanks Lala. Will give it a go. Usually I boil the carcass as well, then add chicken and large, chunky veg but call it chicken stew!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Ditto with turkey.

I do a similar veg soup but instead of blitzing I just use the potato masher. it breaks the veg down lovely making a substantial chunky soup which OH prefers.
Also saves on the washing up:D
