Right I am not going to lie but I have fallen down again.

Last night I blew nearly £1600 on slots, this is worst I havedone in a long time.

I can’t put my finger on why but I think it’s because I gotcomplacent. I have yet to tell my OH but I will as I need to be open and honestfor this to work.

The worst bit about it, I have used my C/C to take cash outand now have a 12 months loan with an APR that will make you cringe.

Not going to say much else as I am still in complete shockand I am close to breaking point.

Will do a full update when I get myself back together.

  • Hello SillyG :D

Was reading your thread and didn't want to not say hi!!

In those 2 weeks since you first posted, you made huge progress with regards to your lifestyle, debts, spending, eating, everything! You were doing really, really well! :)

Then I got to your last post and my heart sank for you :(
Everyone has a 'bad' day and slips up. Don't let it get you down.

I've never been into gambling so I'm def not the best one to advise on that at all. However, a saying of mine is 'prevention is better than cure' ;) If you know and understand why you gamble, then it should (in theory) be easier to recognise the signs you're heading that direction, and fight the urge off before you actually start handing over the money! (although I do know that's probably easier said than done!)

I would also advise you to be up front with your OH, like you have been already. They've already been so supportive of you. Again, try to understand why you gamble and discuss this with your OH. Work together as a team to fight back.

Hope you don't mind but I'm going to subscribe to your thread to see how you're doing. Please come back and update us. There are so many people on here who are supportive, will encourage you, (occasionally berate you when the need arises ;)) and will give you tips and ideas to help along the way.

    Good luck :D

    Thank you.

I thought i knew my triggers ( Stress, Mess, Being a fatty!) and as you can see I have been keeping a track on these.

I am going to add a new one of Complacent and get this months bank/ C/C statements posted everywhere to show what this can lead to.

The only good thing is that i have been able to factor in the new debts to my snowball and still ( Fingers crossed) be DFD in 27 months.

  • See? There's still a light at the end of the tunnel :D

Wee thing just if you don't mind me saying: in post #9 you've mentioned giving your bank card to your OH and cutting up all your credit cards (yay!! :)) But in post #14 you mentioned taking money out on your credit card...

    Explain please! :D

Sorry not taking out, but using on gambling sites ( which is classed the same a cash withdrawal on the C/C). i know the the CV2 to the lot of these making deposits oh so easy ( over and over and over again).

My Plan once OH has come down from the ceiling is to get replacment cards, Not open/activate them and give to OH meaning the information on the sites is incorrect. And yes I have closed the ones i was on last night, but trust me it is easy to open another account.

  • Ah right. Gotcha now.

Meantime get OH to set up parental controls on the laptop/pc and password them so you can't access any gambling sites?? :)

Take it by that post you've told OH. That's good. And at least it was the ceiling rather than the door they aimed for ;)

OH has been informed and is firmly on the ceiling. I do have a game block on my computer, I did this on my IPhone. I've looked in to it and there is not a blocker for the phone yet, but OH is setting up the restrictions as we speak ( no more looking at naked men either :( ). I feel better now it's out but worst as I know how good things can be.

  • Get back to posting on here every day or so and stating your 'gamble free' days. When you see it in black and white it'll encourage you to keep adding on 1 more day :) One piece of the puzzle at a time!

It's also not that long since your LBM, and majority of people find the first few days/weeks/months the hardest, and that's often when people slip up. Learn from it. Make a note (mental or written!) not to do it again. And move on.

Glad the teamwork is kicking in and you're getting the blocks sorted on your iPhone. Talk to your OH and agree on some alternatives (spend free preferably) to occupy yourself for when temptation arises :)
