Unfortunately I am not able to give up the car as I live rurally and have to drive 22 miles to work - there is a bus service of sorts but I would have to change twice and it would take almost 2 hours to get to work - factor in that I need to get my daughter to the childminder and there isn't a hope in hell!!!!

The car has to stay I'm afraid. I will however have lower car cost after Christmas as this is when I pick the 'new' car up from my uncle. It's in really good nick and the insurance for is cheaper. Therefore the £50 on petrol is also kind of non-negotiable. :(

Could you sell the old one anyway (for the £400)?

  • Hi, great to see your tackling your debt.

Your rent seems very high? Is there a possibility of downsizing? Maybe move closer to work 2 birds one stone?

    Just a thought xx

The rent includes one Council Tax and one of the water bills.

Can't really move due to the catchment area for school and the rent is actually one of the cheaper ones in my area - rural = expensive, but I'm not moving back to the city as it was just as expensive and not very good for mine or my daughters health and wellbeing. Here she is also close to her Daddy whom she adores.

I am really annoyed with myself. I had determined to make today a NSD however got into the car this morning and realised I needed petrol - £10, although it is a necessity. WHat I am most annoyed about is that I forgot my lunch... £1.80!!!

My work colleagues did find it hiliarious though as I managed to adopt frugal into lunch that everyone enjoyed!!! - How I hear you ask - well I was able to justify chips!!!!

If I had gone to the deli (the only place to get a sandwich near work it would have cost about £3 (this a cheese & tomato baguette their cheapest item!!!) so I justified buying chips as they cost less. Everyone was really chuffed when I offered to do a chip run.

I have now placed a post it on the front door stating LUNCH!!!! hopefully I can make tomorrow a NSD instead.

    Although I did make a £2.50 PAD!!!!

Total cost for today was supposed to be £2.50 - I had allowed for this. Instead it cost me £4.30

Laughing at the post-it note!!! :)
Had to buy lunch today myself as we ran out of bread this morning - about 5 mins before I went down the stairs to make my lunch!! Teenagers! :p

It's a learning experience so don't let an off day put you off completely! I'm not doing so well on my October NSD challenge, but have decided that for November I'm moving the goalposts ever so slightly, because otherwise I'll keep 'failing' then I'll give up! I just gotta be more realistic sometimes.

Chin up and keep smiling :D

    what is the NSD Challenge

I keep seeing people referring to different challenges but still being new can't seem to find the challenges!!!!

Is there a specific forum that has all the challenges???

Just going through my online banking and found I had £11 in an old savings account so have used it to pay towards my Capital One CC. :)

I know the bills I'm paying at the highest interest ones but I haven't got bank details to be able to pay the others. I still have access to my Very account and CO CC as they haven't defaulted and I have been able to keep up minimum payments.
