Yes every job is different thats why i say average. you could also ask the hourly rate however. Many trade peeps price on the job depending on the effort involved.

i am self employed, so i know there are overheads.

However there is a big difference between 18 pound per hour,45 pound per hour and pricing per job.

if you are charging over 30 pound per hour and your pleading poverty/overheads are killing you then you are doing something wrong.

And ill keep bashing the trades when they are charging over 30 pound per hour. There are many charging stupid hourly rates. There are also many on here in the trade that attemp to defend those rates.

I have seen good prices on here for jobs, and some trade members slate the quote just cause its cheap. There are handful of keen priced qualified members on here. That will give an average/guesstimate of a job. Many of the rest seem to stick together like the masons lol

As for the 50% of quotes, There is a reason you are not getting the job.

Sorry if i have offended or you see me as trade bashing. But bashing were bashing is due lol

don't worry you haven't offended me, it would take alot more than that unlike some on here who seem to go running if you said boo to them, plumbing or heating is not like phoning up to get a quote for a new tire there are lots of things to look at & consider & most people would want a price based on knowledge of seeing the job, the last thing anyone wants is a nasty surprise, yes i could give a price of £1500 to do a boiler change then get there & find the supply pipe isn't big enough & needs to be upgraded & the flue is too close to a window or the boundary so it requires a vertical flue to go through the roof & then give the customer a bill for an extra £500 is that really what you think we should do ? because i don't, you don't go into curry's pick out your nice new tv for £600 & then go to the till & they say that's £800 because we forgot to add the price of the stand, anyone wants to know what the job is going to cost & you can't do that without looking at it.

is that with or without 2m of 35mm gas pipe ? :p

Oh that one will run on plain old 15mm pipe...
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
