Actually, I've not forgotten about this post. Well, I had, but then I discovered that Goofbay has been playing up on me the last few weeks - missing bids, or saying page would not respond etc. so came back to dig up the post, and found someone already had :D

Hopefully just going through a dodgy patch and will be back on track again soon, otherwise I'll have to find an alternative.

I used Gixen yesterday, which worked for me.

I've been having issues with Goofbay for the past couple of weeks, missed out on a few snipes with "ebay page not responding" So I googled alternatives and it lead me to this thread. I'll give Gixen a try and place a snipe in Goofbay at same time, see what happens.

I would do it manually BUT that's kinda the point, I'm never in to do it, which is why I use, I would assume that's why most people use snipers.

Edit: Did both, Goofbay failed, again but Gixen succeeded. Time for a change. I'll keep using both as they don't interfere with one another and it adds an extra layer of security :)

Goofbay failed to bid for me too. Initially, Goofbay worked well, but the last 3-times it has failed to bid.

I accept that if it's important, snipe it yourself. But if Goofbay advertise a service then it should deliver that service.

    If it's a Page Not Responding error, it's ebay's problem, not Goofbay's.

We had a similar problem a few days ago while sniping manually. We clicked Place Bid with 15-20 seconds to go (we do the actual snipe from the next page, I've been known to move to the confirmation page with minutes to go, and just use the Windows clock to count down to clicking), and the page just didn't load. The internet connection was fine with no slowdown, but ebay just crawled to a halt, and by the time it actually loaded, the item had finished.

I'm not convinced it is an ebay problem, I have had 'page not responding' the last 8 times I tried to use goofbay. I've never had a problem up until now.
A lot of other people are reporting the same problems too, just with Goofbay.
  • I've been having problems with Goofbay for weeks now. It doesn't look like it's going to be sorted do I have found a working alternative.

How do you know? Are you psychic, so knew how much the winning bidder set as their maximum? :p

I placed a bid via Goofbay and know it didn't register as the item didn't sell.

Close but not quite - the information that Goofbay sends into the ebay API is not structured correctly, therefore eBay does not understand the request that Goofbay Sniper is asking.

The goofbay forum is full of threads about the sniper not working, and there has been no response from the Admin team.

After their foul up with the discount voucher last year, they could do with a bit of positive PR.
