Ebay delivery problems

My answer reflects this. As I said eBay will side with the buyer (op)
Tell me this, if an item gets lost in the post and the buyer doesnt receive the item, does the seller walk away with the funds and not refund? The seller has to chase up the lost parcel and refund if not received. Hence the item not received cases...
It doesnt matter how it was posted. Whether it be plane, van or camel, the buyer has to receive the item under the sellers responsibilities.
The OP then asked what would happen if the status was updated to DELIVERED even though it hadn't been, since they've apparently attempted delivery when the OP was in.
In this case the buyer would lose the case as the tracking would show the item had been delivered, as theonlywayisup said.0 -
I posted collect plus yesterday, and it arrived today.
Yodel have been on fire lately for me. Suppose it depends on area.
Was the item im a jiffy bag? If not - it wasn't £4 postage.0 -

Your answer merely reflects that you didn't read.
The status of delivered will protect the SELLER.0 -
Hey everyone the item finally arrived. I'm so glad! But yeah I typed in the exact weight and dimensions of the parcel into the parcel2go website that the seller used and it was a bit over £4. So I contacted the seller but he gave me a long story about how actually it cost him £18 because of petrol, packing supplies, etc... I've just started to ignore him because he's made me mad. I never over charge by so much when I sell an item even if it does mean I have to spend money to get to the post office or on posting supplies.0

Then you reflect that in the stars. A seller who stars adding petrol costs etc to his postage is not going to be around long anywayI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soolin. I went and left him a negative because he sent me three more emails telling me that I shouldn't be so picky. Another email asking if I want to see his 'business invoice' with all the other costs that went into the 'shipping' and then a third asking me to leave him positive feedback.
Also now, the item no longer works!! So I'm going to try to return it. Do business sellers need to pay for the returning of a faulty item? I've only had it for a less than a day and it no longer turns on. Should I just start a case and send it back recorded myself?0 -

Ebay do not side with the buyer "the vast majority of the time".
If the item was sent recorded delivery and the tracking info on the RM website says "Delivered", (It is usually accompanied by a copy of the signature used) Ebay are very likely to side with the seller.
A buyer may still get a refund from Ebay in certain circumstances, but the seller is not penalised for this.0 -
Given that you've negged him and he sounds a bit iffy, I'd go through Ebay and take direction from them as to when to return it. Send it back tracked. The seller should refund your return post if it is faulty but I can't see that happening here and no one can realistically make him (you could take him to court but that would be costly and relatively pointless).
Thanks for confirming. Thats what I thought. He is now not getting back to me either. He wont tell me where to ship it back too! I feel like for the past several months I have had more bad than good transactions as a buyer but I can't stay away!0
