  • Further clarification - TNS won't tend to get upset, but IR might!

What I do is to claim the return bus fare for travel to my local shopping centre, and mileage otherwise.

I've also been considering whether I should just always claim the maximum, since sometimes I travel quite a way to do my MS and the TNS rate doesn't cover it. When I make up my accounts for the IR, the travel should all come out in the wash! What do others think????

ive always claimed the maximum mileage with TNS and i always get paid that amount

sometimes it costs less for me to travel for a particular assignment for them, sometimes a lot more,so i guess it all evens out somewhere along the way :)

ive just got 2 more for this wkend

so thats two on sat,one on sun and one on mon ,then another 3 after that up until november 8th :)

    hows everyone else doing ?
  • All you TNSers out there, how long did your applications take? I filled in the incredibly long application form about 5 weeks ago and have heard not a peep either way. I also been accepted by GfK NOP but I'ma wee bitty concerned that they want my birth certificate or passport. Has anyone sent these off and got them back in a reasonable time?

I've got two MS to do this weeknd but having trouble getting any more form retail eyes and gapbuster. Getting bizarrley addicted to this so need more!!

I filled in the tns application online last week, had an email on monday to say I was successful and received the started forms yesterday.

I know what you mean about getting addicted to it, odd isn't it?! :D

I did a food mystery shop today. They told me what to order and it's not normally something I would go for,but my gosh it was lovely! Problem with my receipt though - it's only a preliminary receipt because the till went kerpluey. Has the branch name, time, what I ordered etc it's just not a full receipt and the number is 00000000000! I explained all this on the forms though so hopefully it will be ok :)

GFK want a copy of your passport/birth certificate, don't they? That's what my letter said anyway and that's what I sent them :)

Right, another question: I did my first Grassroots job today. I then phoned the number to confirm that I'd done it, and it asked whether I'm going to be sending in the questionnaire... I pressed yes, meaning that I'll do it online - I don't need to actually post it by snail mail, do I? It doesn't mention that anywhere...

Also, when I did the online questionnaire, it didn't ask all the questions that I had on paper, like buildings to the left/right. I thought that was a bit strange

I've always claimed the full amount & it's never been queried by TNS.

As far as the Inland Revenue are concerned, they are not interested. I checked with them ages ago. After all, you only have to do 8.75 miles for the mileage expenses to work out at 40p a mile.

I agree with jobbingmusician, it all evens itself out anyway. And if your turnover is less than £15k you don't have to submit details of your expenses anyway, so the Inland Revenue won't know unless you are unlucky enough to be selected by the computer for a random check.

My brief said to phone the freephone number, so I did it. Maybe it's because it said to complete the online thing within 48 hrs, but they still want to know straightaway whether you've actually done it...
