That is awful Chocaholic110  Never done a reveal one before but surely they can't do anything if you didn't pay for the item?

That's what I'm hoping! But the girl on the till didn't seem to be aware of what was going on around her, to put it politely. Hope she definitely cancelled everything!!

    Hi everyone!
I've been reading this thread with interest...so much interest that I've followed some of the links, signed up with some companies and have just got back from my first assignment!

I have a query that I'm hoping someone can help me with...I've just completed my online questionnaire, read it, re-read it, spell checked it and submitted it. I then faxed through my receipts. So far so good.

Almos immediately I received an e-mail to say that they have a 'proof reading query' with my report and a request that I telephone them - obviously I did this straight away but there was no answer and I'm guessing there won't be until Monday.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be? Their e-mail was virtually instant and I can't see how an automated system could have detected, say, a spelling or grammar mistake that quickly...or am I being naive?

Ah well, I guess I'll find out on Monday...what a good start!! :D

You might want to edit your post as you have mentioned a client name, which will not go down well with the mystery shopping company concerned.

Hornetgirl might be an idea for you to edit yours too as you've quoted the same info with client details in.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I had similar with my first ever MS and it frightened me - I was shaking when I phoned the number. It turned out to be virtually nothing.
Give them a ring on Monday and don't worry about it until then.

Thanks! I thought that it was probably something trivial but I wasn't sure.
Just my luck to muck something up on my first go! :o

  • Mystery Outsource provides project management, recruitment, scheduling, allocation and reporting functions for mystery shopping companies.

If you are interested in mystery shopping, MO have some new opportunities and need to increase their database of shoppers. They are particularly looking for shoppers prepared to undertake home delivery pizza assignments. These assignments are nationwide, incuding a few in Ireland and I will be allocating these myself.

The job involves ordering a pizza from your local store, assessing the delivery/service received, taking photographs of the pizza before tucking in, and completing a simple online form to report back on your experience. The next wave of visits begin shortly.

    You will need:

    Online access
A digital camera of at least 2 MP quality
Have a store close enough to deliver to your home (or a friend's home,
office etc that you can receive delivery at)
A Paypal account (or be prepared to set one up free at www.paypal.co.uk)
    A love of pizza! icon_smile.gif

The cost of the pizza is refunded and a fee is paid on top. Payment is made
by PayPal direct from the client at the end of the month following the month you complete the assignment (so pizza assignments in Dec are paid Jan 31st and so on)

If you would like to register with Mystery Outsource for pizza and future assignments with other clients, please register online at:

My thanks clicking doesn't seem to be working at the moment just bounces me to the top fo the page but thanks Rachelja and Genie for the tax advice. Will click thanks from another computer later.

Had an intense excel day yesterday and I think I have it all under control! :o

I've settled on allowing mileage to the shop and back for each job. Its too complicated to work out when I travelled from one job direct to another. I've not included any spends above the allowance - I've not yet had one where I've 'had' to go above the allowance due to the brief its just usully been the lure of garlic bread or similar! To be on the safe side I've worked out all mileage from whichever base I've been at (even when I did 5 shops in one day from a location 140 miles from where I live).

I seem to about break even or make a small loss on the eating jobs but about £5-10 after tax on the shop jobs.

I do have one 'job' which sticks out massively as I made a loss of about £70 on it due to travel costs but had a free gym membership for three months.

Am I right in thinking the benefit of the membership is not taxable as it is wholly necessary to do the job? I presume its the same as for shop purchases and food purchases. With that in there I've got very little taxable earnings at the moment which is great. May have to do some more restuarant ones before the end of the tax year to eat some more of the profits!
