  • It is strange! I'm going to keep an eye out from now on, and look for people taking photos of strange places!

    :j
  • Perhaps RE think it's funny to get us all out taking pics! I wonder who sits and looks at them?

    Don't use the flash!

Next time you need a new mobile, look at ones with a decent camera on. My contract was up for renewal earlier this year and I got the Sony Erricson K800i with a 3MP camera.

I do some covert audits that require taking photographs of products on shelves in shops, without drawing attention to yourself. I did get noticed using a conventional camera, but nobody has looked twice at me fiddling with my phone. I presume they just think I'm texting.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Some people were asking why the Grassroots questionnaires weren't printing off properly and were being cut off at the edges. Well, I now know the solution:

Open it up in Word, then go into 'File' then 'Page Setup' and then click on the 'Margins' tab. Set all margins to 0.5cm and it will print correctly.

I did a photo taking one yesterday - it was for a phone chain Rachie ;)

And my sandwich ones for next week require a photo too - wonder why not all of them do?

Anyhoo, I did feel silly taking my photo, as I mucked up the first one and had to do it twice... And yes, using a flash on a dark November afternoon is not exactly very covert! :rotfl:

Ooh, I've figured it out: maybe only locations with more than 1 sandwich shop need a photo!

The photo’s could be needed for a couple of reasons, if the town has a few of the shops, it could be to confirm you actually visited the correct location, or it could be, the last person in, gave the wrong left and right and they just wanted confirmation or and this I know has been the reason in the past with a lot of the companies I work for, it is to prove you have actually done the job.

Some jobs don’t require you to get a receipt, so the company then has no proof the job was actually completed, having a photo is as close to a receipt as you can get.

I remember a post on here a year or so back, when someone had accepted a job for RE and couldn’t do it, instead of cancelling it, they “advertised” the job on here, to get someone else to do it for a free lunch and the original person got the fee.

It is quite probable, all of us on here would do a good job, but there are some shoppers out there who expect the fee and not do the job.

  • (Sorry, a rather old post)

I really don't think MS companies mind about subjective answers. They are trying to capture the customer experience. If people react subjectively to an experience, it will affect the way they think about the retailer - so subjective experiences and reports are valuable to the client!!! I think they have the sense to evaluate when people are being abnormal in their subjective responses, and when they are being natural (perhaps I'm being naive, or over-psychological, in this belief.
It depends on how far you take the subjective comments, a friend of mine has just started Mystery Shopping and asked me to check over her report before she sent it, I am glad she did, as I am sure the company would have thought twice about using her again, to be fair to her, the visit was a bad one, so it was difficult to stay objective about the whole visit, but comments like

“the member of staff was called Joan, she was dressed appallingly in a non colour matching suit of red and green with brown tights and it looked like she hadn’t brushed her hair for ages”

IMHO is far too subjective and concentrates more on being critical about the member of staff rather than on the customer service.

We changed the wording to “the member of staff was eye catching in their suit of green and red colours and their striking hair style” the name badge was worn on the right hand side of the suit and had the name Joan on it”

This answered the question asked, which was, was it easy to spot the member of staff, what were they wearing, did they wear a badge and where was it worn.

I try and stay away from any subjective comments, mainly because when I read the report back to myself and it doesn’t always come across as I want it to.

  • Just wondering if retaileyes pay travel expenses? I know I had to select the maximum distance I would travel when I first signed up but not sure if you get expenses.

    Thanks for your help.
