  • Hi Money Waster

I have just read your posts from start to finish and the transformation in you sounds fantastic!! You start off with the weight of the world on your shoulders and now you are offereing advice to others.

There are a lot of very kind and patient people on these forums and they have taught you well. They have also given me inspiration and I just wanted to congratulate you on your journey so far and to again praise all the MSE super people with their advice.

Keep it up and keep knitting!!! What a great skill to have!

  • Talking of knitting, how is that hat coming on :)
I used to be fasinated watching my Grandma knit, her hands used to just be blur and she would be looking at you holding a conversation whilst still knitting.
I remember sitting for hours having wool put over my hands (moaning all the while mind you) while she unpicked a garment to put into balls to make another new jumper for me or one of my siblings. We would always get a new Arran Cardigan/jumper at Easter time with new Church shoes :)
I wish I could knit but quilting seems to be my 'thing'

  • Hiya Clarabara, Thank you for reading and posting. Yes support on here is fabulous. I'm just at the beginning but what is a bit of concern is. That come January and the pressure is no longer there. I will think OK I'm sorted now and slip back to old ways. Thats when Il have to be even stronger. Easier for me to be be strong when I have no money as have no choice, cant spend as have none . It will be harder for me when i do have a choice and have to choose not to. Thats why my user name is what it is. Think Il always have to fight it ?

  • Again not a lot happening. All DDs paid. Petrol fine DH assures me and still money left in the food purse :j.

Just waiting for my extra earnings to be paid into the bank. I rang them as they had not replied to my email and it contained my bank details for bacs payment. They told me they had received it and "should" be in by the end of the week. If it is in by then. I will get the rest of my Christmas shopping, but still keeping it as low as possible. Determined not to splurge, because bank account is looking healthy. I still owe my brother, so not clear yet.

Two Ebay items sold, for small profit :T.

    Thank You :A

I'd suggest transferring a portion of your wage immediately into savings at the beginning of the month so you can't get tempted by it.

It is heartening to see your progress here. Well done.

I agree with the savings idea posted by Lannie in #127. You could put the payments (or interest) you were paying in to a savings account at the month.

That way you do not miss the money and you will also build up a cushion against the stuff life throws at you.

I have never been a saver but I have recently started and it does provide quite a good boost to your piece of mind.

I have just used my savings to pay a water debt off in full (I got a shock with 4 years worth of bills land on my mat - £1,800). That will definitely reduce the amount of time I spend awake at 3:00am...
  • rising from the ashes, Hello and Thank You for posting. Yes I am quite concerned about that problem. Ourt of danger, so start slipping, must work at it not too.

Lensman Fabulous news on the savings :j. That is a definite for me. I must build of a nice soft landing cushion. Then I wont have to borrow to get sorted and start again on the slippy slope down

Good News, Christmas Earnings has arrived in the Bank :j and I also get paid this Friday.

I bank with TBS and Halifax. I have opened and extra on line account with each one to put money in for separate things, like emergency fund, I am going to deposit in those by standing order. I also have an ISA Acc which has had £1 in it for ages. So will look to put some money in there too.

    Thank You :A People
