I don't mind paying for the redirect service. I don't mind and even expect some security when it is done. What I do object to is RM's failure to make the online service work and its failure to get up to date with requirements. Lots of people, for example, no longer have printed copies of bills. I suppose we should be grateful they don't ask for ration cards.

You don't need to add extra stamps if you are redirecting mail without opening it first. The address labels will suffice.

    funny 1 this,
i had a customer put in a 1 month redirection, it expired and they still get mail regularly for them, mostly junk, but some looks important, but we must deliver it to their old address (don't forget they could have moved back)
anyway, 1 week passed and the new owner started to write the address on mail and post it back, but due to the sorting machines, it still comes back to my frame, just happens the new address frame is just behind me, i used to just pass it over to the other posty
i mentioned it to a line manager and he said it still must get redirected for free,
after a few weeks, we mentioned it again because they were still getting a lot of mail and our manager then told me to just start killing it off!

to the original post, start a call & collect or keepsafe depending on how far you are moving, until you can get a proper redirection in,
don't rely on the new occupant hoping us forwarding it to the new address,
as for others who may start !!!!!ing about failed official redirections....we are all human, we don't mean to!

I doubt the OP has time to setup a keepsafe or call and collect, as they take as long as a redirection to set up, a ring to customer services can put a temporary hold on the mail (free) until the redirection kicks in.

don't know why a delay if you got all the relevant id?
my ex set up a redirect to her sons home, then got in her new place without needing it,
1 cancelled 1 new set up same day no extra charge, i dare say the labels had been printed too because it was due to start 2 days later

make your mind up :rotfl: you say setup a call and collect or a keepsafe until the redirection starts, now you say the redirection takes no time at all to set up!

The point I was making was, as far as I know, a call and collect involves having a test letter sent to the property to bring in as proof the person has access to the property, that takes time, hence why I suggested contracting customer services to put a hold on the mail.

didn't the op say they didn't have the relevant paperwork to set up a redirection now?
in a weeks time they may have it!!!

in a weeks time they will have moved so why you are telling them to take out a service they are not allowed to access is  surely you being a postie knows that a call and collect and keepsafe are services linked to the persons present address, not an address they are moving to.
