Fistral Parking Ticket

Hey guys, have seen on here that parking charges obtained at fistral beach car park can just be ignored if you are the registered owner of the vehicle.
What is the situation if you are not? as a uni we rented 3 minibuses and parked there a couple of times.
The problem was there were so many people and minibuses in the car park this weekend we couldnt see any parking signs, and the machine we did see had a big cover over it. So we presumed that the parking charge had been removed for the student surf championships.
It wasnt until the 3rd day when less people were there that we saw an operating machine and hence the cameras recording you in and out of the car park.
So we have probably racked up 7 or 8 tickets over the few days, but as we are not the owners they will probably go to the hire companies we used, can anyone advise please? this could turn out to be expensive

You need to check the terms of the hire agreement.
The hire company will probably charge your credit card with a admin fee for passing the driver details to the PPC.
In most cases there is no provision in hire agreements for this admin fee as the invoice you will receive from Parking Eye is not a fine or a penalty, it is not for any traffic offence or any offence.
When you have got the hire company out of the loop you have 3 options as far as i see it.
1. Appeal to Parking Eye, then when that appeal is turned down appeal to POPLA.
2. Totaly IGNORE anything from Parking Eye when you have taken the Hire company out of the loop.
3. Pay Parking Eye there extortionate scam invoice. (my advice is dont ever pay.)0 -
Don't worry 7 or 8 tickets lol good shout.
Contact the hire company and tell them you will manage it. Phone up your card that you used for payment and get card details changed.
The big guns will be posting soon so just please don't worry and hope you had good time. The word about the scammers is spreading like marmite here in the westcountry.
We workers all love it and the ppc hate it :rotfl:0 -
haha yeh it was awesome thanks, waves were amazing.
We were thinking of phoning them up and explaining the situation and offering to pay what the parking would have cost for 3 days, for each of the vans.
But were worried that they would see this as us admitting responsibility for the error and hence accepting the charges0 -
What was the name of the company supposedly managing this car park? Who did you hire the vehicles off? These invoices are probably not covered under their terms, if its not on the terms they cannot charge you, so if they do you need to be firm that they are acting outside their remit. Another way to do this is email the parking company admitting that you were the driver/s give them your address then just ignore when they write to you. They cannot then go back to the hire company and try and get them to cough up.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

No you are just admitting you were the driver, don't admit that you accept the penalty for parking there, you could offer their losses which would be the P&D amount for the day, not a penny more. And you mark any correspondence with 'Without Prejudice ' in case they do try to be funny !!!!!!s and take you to the small claims, which by the way is very doubtful.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. It is parking eye that manages it i think, there are lots of forums telling people to ignore them, just unsure for rental companies, we got them from east mids hire and alltruck plc.
Will have a look into terms & conds now, thanks0 -

Ignore is a good tactic if you are the RK of the vehicle only, you need to email parking eye admit you were the driver with your address, and tell them to write to you only, and do the same for the other 2 vehicles as well with the details of who was driving them, it will probably be best to sit down with your mates and bring them here so they can see the advice given.
Once you got parking eye writing to you just ignore them, this will hopefully take the hire company out of the equation before they get involved.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

I agree, you all need to write to Parking Eye asap to hook them in your direction, so you can then play the ignore game and keep the Hire Company out of the loop completely. Once a PPC knows who was driving they no longer have reasonable cause to get the owner's data from the DVLA.
You can offer the amount for parking if you like, it's a reasonable thing to do. Just do a simple appeal letter explaining as you did above; a letter that gives them an address and a name - I suggest you don't use your normal signature and that you misspell your name deliberately.
Then when you all get the threatograms you will know what the letters are without even opening them due to the misspelt name, which may help members of the families not to panic if you just explain that all those letters are just a scam. All 3 drivers will need to know the score and be ready for the junk mail - don't let any of them waver and pay the extortionate penalty that the PPC have conjured up from nowhere.
Play snap with the letters as they match this thread:
