breach of contract - my expenses

Talktalk left me without a landline for 16 days. the fault was that Openreach did not get the order to find the fault until the 16th day - then it was fixed easily. I spent £70 on mobile calls and also could work from home on some days as I didn't have email access.
TT say they will pay toward my phone bill but not the etra expense and inconvenience of not being able to work from home as in the contract it says does not include business use.
This is correct but is it reasonable?
They are the company from hell and phpome them from a mobile costs ££££££

All ISP's have this clause, unless you have a SLA in place with a business broadband service, then you don't stand much of a chance of any comp aside from what they have offered you.0
-
If you use a residential contract to run a business, you are in breach of contract anyway. If you want compo for consequential losses, then you need a business tariff with an SLA in place, as spike says.
All you can ask for is credit for the downtime, anything else is at their discretion, so getting your phone bill paid is about as much as you can expect.
If your landine is critical to your business, then why contract with such a lowly rated provider? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

As I said, some days I can work from home (writing up docs etc as lotas of people do these days) but I need access to emails so I am still in the loop.
I am not a small business who needs a full on bus tarrif. I simply have a domestic tarri as I am predominantly a domestic user.
Hope thats clear.
Talktalk took 16 days to fix a minor issue and they only did that cos I called them every day until they took action :mad:0 -
which they will compensate for call charges as indicated.
There is no obligation for them to provide more, anything else would be purely good will.0 -
OK, but nevertheless the same point applies-you are not entitled to any consequential losses compensation, as there is no SLA on your contract.
The problem is your supplier (or their relationship with OR), not your contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
For the record, working from home does not constitute business use. I had the same argument with Sky because they used to block VPN access.
Unfortunately faults on the network do occur. Personally I think you'd be daft not to accept what they've already offered.0 -

If that's the case, then why not ask for a bit more?
Internet is as important as gas or electric these days.
Any suggestions for an alternative to diabolical talktalk?0 -
You can ask for the moon with cheese, but you are not contractually entitled even to what you have already been offered. So it's entirely up to you how far you want to push it-they could just withdraw the existing offer.
Do an exchange search on samknows for your other available LLU options. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

O2.I've been with them since around 2007 for internet & 2010 for home phone as well.In that time I've had 2 issues, and in both cases O2 kept me advised as to the fault status by text to my mobile & both were fixed within 3 days.0 -

Is it, really? Personally I'd rather have heat and light than the internet.
Check samknows for your LLU alternatives. I'm with Sky and have never had any issues with them in the 3 years I've been a customer. Well, apart from the VPN access issue, but that was resolved by them sending me a Netgear router FOC.0
