I managed to book 2 alitalia flights to New York City! for just £33 return.
Alitalia itinerary
Outbound: Geneva to New York (via Rome)
Inbound: New York to Venice (via Rome)
Cost £33 including luggage and food :-)
...and then I obviously needed to get from my local airport to Geneva. The cheapest flight would have been from London for around £30, however for £50 I purchased a cheap easyjet flight from my local airport (saves all the hassle of traveling down to London). I then took advantage of the 25% coupon and purchased an alitalia flight from Italy to London for £50 ish. I also booked the megabus back from London for £1 each.
Total cost for 2 people flying out to NYC = £280 instead of £900!. Flights to New York City are usually around the £450 mark (and usually much more from my local airport!)
Absolutely fantastic! Delighted to have been able to purchase two tickets, however I would have been really happy if I was able to book 4 in total but the alitalia website was overloaded and crashed but still we are going to have a fantastic time in the big apple for next to nothing! :-)0 -

It was a fantastic glitch.
My total is:
Rome - Caracas - Brussels £168
Manchester - Venice £24
Brussels - Liverpool £21
Thats a total of £213 for 2 to Venezuela from the UK, like I said earlier, probably the cheapest flights to South America ever.
Since a flight to Aruba (Caribbean) is £120 return from Venezuela we have either got South America for £105 each total from the UK - Or the Caribbean for £165 each total from UK.
An absolute steal however you look at it0 -
I hit a few 'snags' with my booking. This is due to not being able to stay near geneva the night before and also Monarch deciding (post booking) to not fly back to Manchester.
However;
LHR-GVA w/ BA was £64 incl baggage
GVA-NYC-VCE w/Alitalia was £35 incl baggage
VCE-BHX w/Monarch was £36 incl baggage
So for my gf and I costs total £270. Our trains to london and back from BHX were a further £46. So travel is £158pp. To fly direct from Manchester would cost £400+0 -

£158pp is still a great price!, however I would be reluctant to pay so much for trains when you can get the megabus.0 -
Has anyone had an email with their re-issued tickets yet?
The only email I have had is dated 25/10/2012 stating
"Dear Alitalia fans,
Thank you for the interest you took in our Facebook Global Offer. Alitalia was the first airline to create a global event of this kind for the Internet community: the most wide-ranging Alitalia promotion ever.
We offered a worldwide 25% discount, with the exception of Japan, where for technical reasons we were forced to create a unique E-Coupon worth 25.000 yen (approximately 250 euro) to be used exclusively for the purchase of flights from Tokyo or Osaka. This redemption rules were clearly stated in the Japanese version of the Facebook offer.
Unfortunately, due to a malfunction, the system did not recognize the limitation of this unique e-coupon to be used only on routes from Japan. As a result, the system erroneously allowed the voucher discount of 25,000 yen to be used on all routes in Alitalia's global network.
The news spread rapidly online and in a matter of a few hours our Japanese website reported a dramatic surge in visits and purchase requests from several geographical areas.
This unusual occurrence on the Japanese website triggered a security system alert which, considering the high percentage of number of requests at zero cost, froze all transactions. The promotion's objective was to spur and increase the sale of tickets at a discounted price, and not to issue tickets for free or at a minimal cost.
However, since Alitalia intends to protect clients who have committed a, albeit minimal, amount with their credit card, we confirm the validity of the transactions requested on the Japanese site with a value greater than 1 euro cent. Those clients will soon receive an e-mail with their ticket.
Finally, in consideration of the great success of the promotion, we decided to extend the 25% discount offer for two additional days.

EDIT: Just had one of the 2 tickets sent to my email just this minute.

For the return leg I am supposed to be flying from JFK (New York) to Venice (Via Rome) however I intend just to fly from JFK to Rome and skip the Rome to Venice flight.
At JFK will I have any problems checking in my bag just until Rome?0
