sky on demand help- im thick

Options
please be patient with me as this is the first time ever ive had sky and we come from bt vision so i may be expecting too much.

we have entertainment extra package with anytime+ blah blah.

am trying to watch things on demand. downloaded a movie and it wont play. coming up with a message about upgrading? do i have to be subscribed to movies to watch this? i thought on demand stuff was just there to watch and you didnt have to be subscribed to the particular channel its just a selection of content ready to watch, but maybe thats where im going wrong as were used to bt vision

could anyone advise please

You have to be subscribed to the pack in order to watch them on demand, same as the Sky Go.

Have you got an HD box? I phoned about it and was told I'd need to upgrade to an HD Box.

The OP obviously has a compatible digibox or the "On demand" menu would not be visible in the first place.

The content of On Demand is dependant on the individual subscription. For films you need Sky Movies and for Sport you need Sky Sports, but most other material is available to all.
The films in "Sky Store" are available to anyone but are pay-per-view.
  • Hello i also need help with on demand. We had a hd+ box delivered which we have set up but not getting anywhere with on demand. I have spoken to sky who has all at their end but still only getting Anytime. I have everything except the sports package. How do get on demand instead of anytime??? All connected to router but nothing.??

You need the software update to get On Demand instead of Anytime. You can do a forced update, or wait for the box to download it automatically overnight. You don't switch off the box at the mains, I hope?

That's assuming Insane Drifter has a box for which the update is available (ISTR that it's not yet available for all models).

OTOH, as he says he's had an HD+ box delivered, it's likely that it's a brand new one direct from Sky.

Have you tried a forced update? Hold power button on sky box until indicator goes red. Wait a few minutes. Hold down backup button, then press power button. Wait until you see the upgrade message then release backup button.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
