Tax Disc

Hi,

I'm not sure why I've got this in my head but need to know if its true or not....


If your Tax Disc runs out at the end of a month and you get a new one mid month can you display it straight away or can it only be displayed at the start of the following month.

I've always thought it couldn't be displays before the month it's due to start, but thinking about I can't see why....

You must always display a current disc.

So no reason why you can't put up a new one early, but it isn't yet valid!

You can display two at at a time (and it makes sense to do so), but you can't remove the old one and just display the new one until midnight end of the month at the earliest.

Not sure I understand the point of the question to be honest. You can apply for a new disc in advance of the old one expiring but why would you need to display it until the previous one actually expires?

Maybe if you're going on holiday and your tax disc is due to expire when you're away?

My current TD runs out at the end of this month - renewed on line earlier in the week, new TD came today - new TD now in place in the windscreen with the old one behind it.

It was just last year I got the new disc a fortnight before the old one run out, put it on the on the side thinking I mustn't forget to display that in my car at the start of the month, than a week into the start of that month thought **** my Tax Disc is still on the side, so wondered if I can display it now, but it seem I was right and the old one has to be displayed until midnight on the last day of the month...

That is how mine is now, but wasn't sure which to be in the front ie on display new or old...

Yes you can display your new tax disc before the old one runs out. You're displaying a valid tax disc and that's what's required.

I tend to just put the new one in the proper holder as soon as I get it and leave the old one on the dash. That way I don't forget to swap them over.

The old one will eventually take care of removing itself.

You need to display the current one until the new one is valid. (It isn't valid till november)
