Tefal Actifry - Something Extra in the box

Hi,

Firstly, I hope that this is in the right forum!

We bought a Tefal Actifry yesterday after finding a good deal. When we got it home and opened the box, we found there was a rag in it with blood and hair on it. Without being too crude, the hair looked like it wasn't from someones head....

I'm planning on phoning the Tefal Customer Relations department at some point today and wondered what I should do. I mean, not only is it completely unhygienic, but now I am without my product until they replace it. Should I be looking for some sort of compensation? An extra Tefal product maybe?

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Yours,

One very grossed out customer!

  • Your rights are with the retailer, not Tefal.
  • Really? The box was sealed, so the offending article couldn't have come from the retailer.

What mattyprice4004 means is that your first contact should be with the retailer where you bought the item.

Why would you expect compensation ? Surely you would just want a replacement ?
  • It may have come along a supply chain 3-4 parties long from tefal to the retailer. The only one that has a contractual obligation to you is the party you bought it from.

    You should start there.

Will some cash or an extra frying pan make you feel any less grossed out?

Close the box and take the whole lot back to where you got it from.

    Tell them to exchange it.

    Compensation ? give over.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I'm only asking about compensation as it's not a faulty product, it's something really unhygienic and now I'm without the product until I can get it replaced. No it won't make me feel less grossed out, but it's the hassle and expense (petrol, time etc) to have to take it back. The store isn't exactly close.

I realise it will have changed hands a few times before I bought it, but I thought the fact that the box was sealed would mean that the blame lies entirely at the feet of where it was manufactured and packaged.

Any contract you have is with the retailer you paid the money to.
  • OK, thanks. I'll take it back when I get a chance.

I would be nipping back sharpish. Because I've got a sneaky feeling you aren't going to be believed anyway.

You didn't have the product until yesterday so its not exactly become essential to your everyday living overnight, considering you haven't used it anyway.
