well I guess we must be lucky as we replaced 3 ground floor doors in february. The guy fitted new handles etc and we are completely satisfied. The cost ? £105.00. The guy was recommended by others as well.0

None. That would be silly. I pay my chippy £30 a door and he does a great job. Ty0 -
Btw the worst is yet to come...painting them. Still gives me nightmares...3 coats of paint each side
Yes, it takes me about 1 hour to do one coat on one door. This is assuming a 6 panel door. I quite enjoyed painting one door recently. But it is hard work.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

Thanks very much all. Seems that £60 per door is fairly reasonable. Just seems strange that the labout costs as much as the door, but understand there is quite a bit to fitting a door well. Probably not one to try myself!

But it's got nothing to do with the cost of the door. You could get £20 doors or £500 doors they would both cost £60 to fit.
I live in a house with 10 doors, not one is fitted properly, I would happily pay for a non muppet to fit doors.0 -
Must admit I've never even tried a roller for gloss, even though I have had a pack of them in the drawer for the last 10 years.
More of a do it once and do it right bloke myself, so a little extra time doesn't come into it.
;) not that I'm saying brushing is easier but it's the clean up that's different, rollers are seen as disposable at the end of the day in trade, not my philosophy;) I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Of course but the finish you get does depend on the type of roller sleeve you use and the techniques you use to apply the paint. If its a case of 1 hour each side with a brush or 15 /20 minutes for both sides to get the same result I know what I would choose.I much prefer the finish with a brush.
BTW those daft foam things are next to useless.
