How do I get the smell of sweat out of clothes!

I get this with my polo shirts. I turn them inside out so the bit that touches your armpit is on the outside. Pour over bicarb of soda, and then white vinegar. Leave for as long as you can be bothered (about 15 mins I do)
Then wash as usual but don't use fabric conditioner as it seems to hold the smell in. If they're really bad, I wash the bicarb mix off, then scrub under the arm bit with just some soap and a nail brush before washing0 -
soak in napisan or biotex (if you can get it). works wonders! failing that a good scrub with soap and use biological washing powder.0

Drench the affected areas in white vinegar.
Felines are my favourite

Another one who's glad to have found this thread - I have a ton of lovely tops but since I started regularly working out they can get a bit 'whiffy' and I don't want to throw them away just because of that! Some good tips here so will give those a whirl ASAP.
Just a couple of quick questions - for the bicarb and white vinegar paste and putting bicarb and vinegar in the washing machine, what should the ratios/amounts be? I've seen an eggcup-full of white vinegar bandied about a lot but just wondering how much bicarb to use.
Also if I can't use biological washing powder due to sensitive skin is it OK to use bicarb?"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I've found that washing at 40c works better than 30c. 30c, and the quick wash also, doesn't get the whiff out no matter what, so I went back to the 40c.0

quick update I have gone on to using Napisan now. I soak the top in it, then add a bit to the wash as well (just for good measure!)0
