I am going to be starting a Debt Management Plan with Payplan in April. One of my creditors is Lloyds, who I owe £18K to. Up until recently my current account was with Lloyds but I have now changed. I am thinking of reclaiming my bank charges but I have to tread with caution. If I try to reclaim hundreds of pounds from them, won't they in turn refuse to freeze interest and accept my DMP? After all the DMP is a gentlemen's agreement and they don't have to agree to anything.
Has anyone been in this situation - please advise?????I'm moving on up now,

Hi Shirlene
This is the situation I find myself in.
NatWest want to pay me money but into a closed account. I would rather the money went on my priority debts such as rent, council tax, etc. I am currently paying Natwest £1 per month for the next 6500 months (541 years) so if it does go in I will not notice any difference. I could really use £1800 paid towards my rent arrears. I could take them to court as the worst that can happen is they throw out my claim and I don’t get any money from Natwest and it still takes me 541 years to pay off NW.
Hmmmm. What should we do?

Hi I have seen in previous threads people asking if they can claim while in an IVA or with a Debt Managing Company but am yet to find an answer! I successfully claimed my mums charges for her but was surprised to learn that she either has an IVA or is with a debt managing company (she is unsure which and neglected to tell me this at the time of me claimeng her charges back for her!). Therefore the bank wants to put the refund of charges towards her debt with them. Is this their right (I just want to check as my dear old mum was expecting a hefty refund).
Secondly after a successful claim, if you start to incur charges wuith your bank again can you claim a second time round?0 -
they have just offered me half my charges back and s ad they will credit it to my account whch is n my DMP and closed! gonna write now and refuse their o ffer0

Hi there, I'm a newbie here and have been interested to read about reclaiming bank charges since they are the main reason I got into debt in the first place.
Is it possible for me to reclaim charges if I am on a DMP - Halifax told me to go via a DMP when I had problems with my overdraft due to charges incurred on my account.
Would I still be able to reclaim my charges?
Thanks in advance!Thrifty Gifty February make £20 challenge £21.05/£20.0 -
As you can see from the above posts any monies reclaimed will more than likely be put towards any debt held with the bank but at least it will reduce one debt.0

Hi,
My husband and I are in the process of reclaiming all our bank charges over the last 6 years. We are in an Iva but our bank is not a creditor or involved in the IVA at all. They have written back to say they will refund the charges without interest and they are forwarding our cheque straight to our IVA company. Can our bank do this when we don't have the IVA with them. They found out we had an IVA somehow. The high bank charges is one reason why we had to enter an IVA!! B****y banks!! Please can anyone help.
