  • Title says it all rearly, we had a business account with one of the high street banks, and things didnt work out, we ended up taking out a IVA, and the bank and creditors all settle for payments at the end of this,
So can I now go back to the bank and try and reclaim the charges they made on the account when it was open ??

You can, as you can see above, but with a business account there are a lot of business charges that you can't claim. Basically though you can claim for returned dd's, cheques etc but no annual/monthly business account charges.
  • Can anyone help?

I have a payment plan for my credit cards with payplan, can i still try and claim back even if i'm using payment plan i got them to help me and all the credit card companys have been great but could they stop this if i try to claim back?

I had to share this with you all. I called up MBNA asking for my statements for the last 6 years. They told me it would cost £1.50 per page.................. I really hope thats wrong!!

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

It will do unless you use the template letter wording and ask for the information under the DPA as the banks can and do charge per statement if all you ask for is copy statements.
  • Hi there, I recently wrote to HSBC asking for 6 years of my bank statements but I closed the bank last year around april/may time.

I am currently signed up to an IVA who the main creditor I owe is HSBC, I recieved a letter back from them today saying they are unable to locate the bank account I have requested statements for! I'm sure I have a hell of alot of unlawful charges that I would like to claim back but what is my next step? Surely they will keep records of old bank accounts and are able to supply statements? I feel HSBC are not playing ball...........

Also what chances do i have of being succesful if I am paying towards an IVA?

Many thanks in advance for any info

I'm on a DMP and have claimed back my bank charges from first direct, they've agreed to pay the full amount, but want to send it to the company they sold my debt to. (This is after their previous smaller offer which which I rejected, which would have been paid by cheque to me instead.)

    Hope this helps a little.
  • Hi all,

I was inspired by Martin's recent programme and would love to be able to reclaim some of my charges.

The trouble is that my debts are currently being handled by a debt management company (Payplan). Are they likely to get nasty and suddenly insist on full payment if I start hassling them about charges?

    Regards,

    Skinterint
  • hi all.i'm new here and totally confused.i got into loads of debt,(alot of it made worse by bank charges),and subsequently,i have been on a debt management plan with cccs for 14 months.lloyds tsb still contact me regularly to dicuss the money i owe them.
i opened a new account with the cumberland building society, and stopped using lloyds tsb completely.i have incurred charges on my cumberland account too,on occasions when my wages haven't been on time to honour direct debits.
can i reclaim charges from either or both? does it work with severely overdrawn accounts? does it work wiyh building society's?
thankyou in advance for any advice!;)
