If you get no joy with the neighbour's dad, you can ring the council noise nuisance team. Check your Council's website for details of what they can and can't do. I believe that after a certain time they can break in to silence the alarm.
We had something similar over the summer during one of the very few periods of really hot weather. An alarm was going off for nearly 5 days and I was going mental! We couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from as the houses are really close and the noise bounces around the gardens. I resorted to knocking on neighbours doors both in our street and the one backing on but still couldn't locate it. I called Environmental Health and they came out and managed to find the source of the beeping. Turned out it was an old smoke alarm in someone's shed at the bottom of the garden. They weren't away so I have no idea why they didn't notice it and stop it. I was so relieved and the guys that came out were lovely."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
Here's hoping I can get something sorted then.
I hate to be "that neighbour" but it is seriously effecting me now. I'm like a zombie I'm so tired and my anger levels are through the roof as a result which means it's winding me up more & more.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
I'd try the Dad. If he doesn't have keys he might know of another family member/friend who does. At the very least he should have contact numbers for them.
Hope you get it sorted.0 -

Yeah, I can imagine. It's simply awful isn't it? Do something, anything. Don't sit at home listening to it. Put a plan into action. Try to get hold of the dad. Now! And phone the noise abatement dept.
My old neighbours (thankfully they've moved now) used to regularly babysit one of their parents' dogs. Two yappy little things with separation anxiety. No sooner had the dogs been dropped off, the neighbours would be out the door leaving these things to bark and howl all day. It drove me out of my house in the end."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Did your neighbour on the other side manage to find out anything?
I do sympathise, I've been driven to distraction by neighbours' alarms going off many a time. Maybe it's a household appliance or something, you know sometimes you get fridges or freezers which start beeping if the door's left open. Doesn't explain why it'd start at 4am, though..
I'd try the council, see what they advise, and maybe the dad, if he's approachable!0 -
I had this a few years back, neighbours had gone on holiday and left thier alarm clock to go off at 6am and keep going off every 10 mins or so. Fortunatly I knew their father, call him and he came and switched it off.
Speak to the father and he can't get in ask for their mobile no and phone them.0 -
I feel sorry for you, had something similar at uni with next door neighbours alarm clock.
Just think, it can't be any worse than this:

!!!!!!?!?
Why didn't you just ring the police and say that you're neighbours burglar alarm is going off, and they're on holiday, so could the police come and check that there isn't an intruder!?!
I did this when the same happened to me at uni, and not only did the police come round and contact someone to turn the alarm off, I also got a thank you letter for being so concerned about my neighbour, even though I was just p*ssed off with the noise!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Er.. I think it might depend on the area, tbh. I remember ringing the Police when I was living in a not-so-good area in Manchester when I heard someone's burglar alarm going off.. they didn't want to know.0
