The myth of the indulgent flatscreen TV society

Funnily enough, it's the bush TV that doesn't seme to die. However, you never know what you have inside TV's these days, as most of them are rebadged anyway. Like Argos have bought the brand new Bush. it's not the same stuff though, they just whack the name on the plastic outers.
My samsung went after 5 years, the screen went patchy and it takes time to reach full brightness, relegated to the conservatory for occasional use. It was a 26", did have freeview a with a list price of £800 which I got of tinternet for about £600 at the time.
We upgraded to a big plasma, much nicer all round.
A recent addition LG 26"LED/LCD for gaming is a nice piece of kit though £230 at the start of the year.
Don't/Didn't Samsung make the majority of flat screens?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Dont flatscreens cost less to run, its the CRT that is decadent like people still eating using silver cutlery and porcelain with nothing plastic or modern

CRTs for their screen size originally consumed less than LCDs and larger Plasmas by necessity used more. I doubt power consumption came into peoples mind at the time of purchase, size matters.
Newer LCDs and LED/LCDs particularly consume less.
It was a conscious decision when we brought a secondary LED/LCD TV rather than a cheaper LCD, close on 80w/hr less"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I'd definitely be on the wrong forum on HPC. I was banned from there because I said I "didn't think people were 'mug punters' if they bought a house today, tomorrow or a year from now. People buy houses for lots of reasons, not just their price movements".
There is no truth or justice to be had there, just a lot of people with their fingers in their ears going 'nah nah can't hear you' when anyone says anything other than what they want to hear. Bonkers.0 -

Check it out. You can still rent traditional CRT's....even the square type instead of widescreen!

they were very keen to agree for a fiver not to bother to collect the telly - their warehouse must be almost a museum covering the old CRTs now!0 -

It's all good.....except as we all know council houses by law have to be larger for the same number of occupants than private new builds.I think....0
