Well, considering "Shearers Ugg Originals" leads to http://www.uggoriginal.com.au/en/ and that site is on the list of fraudulent websites on the official (Decker) Ugg website: http://www.uggaustralia.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-UGG-COUNTERFEIT-Site/default/Counterfeit-Show?caid=counterfeit-retailers

I would say they are 100% counterfeit...
Incorrect. Ugg is not a recognised trademark in Australia. Ugg is a generic type of boot and is sold as such in Australia.

It is no different to some large congolomerate trademarking 'Wellington'

Decker class anybody who doesn't have their permission as counterfeiters. However nobody in Australia needs their permission as the trademark is not valid there, not even the Chinese setup behind Uggoriginal providing they sell them in Australia..

It's basically a pair like this, although the label on the back looks a bit different from memory...not that I can see it particularly well!

If they were bought from a shop, then I guess that they would need to be taken back to that retailer.

There are no fake UGGS in australia, it's the only place deckers can't get the name trademarked, because in Aus it's a traditional type of boot, so deckers are not liable.

"We are not affiliated with the American company Deckers Outdoor Corporation and we don't sell their products. Please don't confuse our products with the Deckers "UGG Australia" brand. Most "UGG Australia" branded products are made in China, our SHEARERSUGG Classic Short Boots are handcrafted in Australia from the finest Australian sheepskin by Australian manufacturer "UGG ORIGINAL PTY LTD".

If they're not affiliated to Deckers then they're probably fakes. The above was taken from the Ebay ad. The spelling is also a giveaway really. Seems like you have genuine Shearers boots though !

Incorrect. If they are Australian based then as they say, Deckers attempt at trademarking a common Australian term for a type of footwear failed in Oz and therefore the name can still be used for many types of sheepkin boot produced there.

I wouldnt waste your breath - its obvious people just dont bother reading posts properly or know what they are on about when it comes to buying Uggs in Australia. No matter how many times this is pointed out to them on this forum.

I agree with the posters who say that UGG is a generic type of boot in Australia.

There are a number of companies selling UGG boots (that is the design, not the brand) in Australia, including EMU.

I found this UK-based company when i was looking for UGG-style boots last year:
    http://www.celtic-sheepskin.co.uk/

    Their About-us page says this:
The Celtic Sheepskin Co. began way back in the mid 1970's selling sheepskin Boots and assorted leather goods. Formerly known as Hide & Feet and then The Original UGG Co, (The Celtic Sheepskin Co Ltd is not related to Deckers Outdoor Corporation and does not offer UGG® footwear. In 1990, Nick Whitworth (a director of The Celtic Sheepskin Co Ltd) registered a UK trade mark “UGG (and Device).” He subsequently sold his entire interest in the UGG trade mark and name to Ugg Holdings Inc, which is now Deckers Outdoor Corporation. The Celtic Sheepskin Co Ltd and Mr Whitworth acknowledge that UGG® is a distinctive trade mark of Deckers Outdoor Corporation in the UK and EU.) and eventually re-branded as The Celtic Sheepskin Co. making and selling our own branded Celt Boots.

I think potential customers need to know whether they want UGG style or UGG brand boots before they part with their cash.

I would prefer to have a genuine pair of Emu or Celt boots than a knock-off fake pair of UGG branded boots.

That's the ones. I'm fine with them not being the 'official Uggs' we have over here. They look the same, they're just as comfy. I just want to know if there's anything I can do regarding the stitching besides admitting defeat and paying to get them repaired! :(

Same applies to uggs in NZ (ie. they are not trademarked there either, for the same reasons).
