Well done on the research, Kurtis!:T0 -
To the original poster about blocking calls. We too had registered with TPS but were getting 4 or 5 calls a day from companies selling stuff etc. The PPI stuff was the last resort for us as they were constant. We ended up buying a call blocker off ebay. There are a few around (i think one of the dragons den people does one) and since that day it has been amazing. Once you block the number it cant ring back. They seem to range in price depending on models and features you want. We opted for a basic one and it has stopped nusiance calls. Worth looking into.0

Hi, my mum signed up this service, they just talked at her for 30 mins until she handed over her bank details. Now I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get out of this 1 year contract as it's clearly a scam and she doesn't need the service anyway... any ideas what her rights are? I only found out about 10 days after she had signed up, so too late under the distance selling act. Any advice would be very welcome!!0

If she's signed a contract for a year I can't see how she can cancel earlier I'm afraid.
She may well have been harangued for half an hour but, at the end of the day, she gave her Bank details voluntarily.
Have you examined the cancellation clauses on the contract?
Do you have proof that it's a "scam"? I certainly agree it's a waste of money...0 -
No, I don't know if it's a scam, but it just seems very dubious to call someone who clearly has no idea, they even got the 'manager' to talk to her!!
According to the distant selling act (which I just looked up again), you can cancel 7 days from the day after the contract starts. Yet the documents don't show a contract starting date, just a DD date, which was yesterday. Any idea if that would be considered the contract starting date if no other date is given?0 -
I just read all the T&C and it's the date at the top of the letter. Sorry for posting without reading all the details! I guess she is stuck for a year.
But considering my mum has been registered with the TPS service for years and still received this phone call, I will at least make a complaint about nuisance calls!0
