Is Plusnet worth the extra cost?

"although for the some reason the price per month on the confirmation email is higher than the one I had signed up for"
When I "signed up", transfer from Madasafish(same company), by 'phone, I was told to ignore the prices quoted on the summary e-mail and the necessary discounts will be applied to the monthly bill.
This is exactly what has happened over the past two months bills and I end up with a nett figure/month as originally agreed.
I think the router is supplied on condition of a 12 month contract.
I did as suggested in post 21 too.0 -
I have the technicolor router and find it absolutely fine. No different wireless wise to sky's routers and better than the virgin one we had before. Like other posters I've found plusnets customer service very helpful, the solve problems quickly and efficiently, are polite and kept us up to date. Our Internet went wobbly for a bit, within an hour of reporting we got a text saying that they'd failed to apply a setting to our account, have fixed that. Have had no problems since. I appreciated the honesty after being fobbed off by sky a lot.Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind0

Yep, just as suggested the price in the automated email didn't reflect the monthly discount - but they confirmed the price anyway so that's fine.
Managed to set up a username on the forum too, that might prove quite useful at some point so thanks for the suggestion."Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -

That's good to know that someone has had a good experience - I saw that this model of router only has a 2-star score on Amazon. Is it likely you got one of a few good ones? I'm just wondering whether to go and get a new one - although that's extra expense that would be nice to avoid!"Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -
I recently had a problem with my computer which was not really to do with internet. Phoned Plusnet tech service (0800) spoke to an English speaker He took over control of my computer and did things with it but failed to fix my problem. However, he suggested several things to try on my own and one of them worked. The help I got was worth an extra six months rental with them. If I had had to call in an outside person it would have cost me.:beer:0

Well I signed up today on their website and everything seemed to go through - although for the some reason the price per month on the confirmation email is higher than the one I had signed up for - not too sure why but I've emailed them to check.
Bit concerned about the wireless router now though - having put up with a ridiculously poor wireless signal for the past 12 months I don't really want to do it again! I suppose it's always possible to buy my own but I've already paid for P+P for the Plusnet one.
I've just realised, I think it's the same one BE Broadband supply and from what I've heard from a friend it's pretty poor... suppose it's probably too late to cancel the order for the router now?
I have recently changed from BE to Plusnet and both routers have been fine, however I have just had an email saying the phone line rental is going up by £1 a month and the talk package by 50p a month from November.:mad:0 -
Well so far so good, just had my start date emailed so all going smoothly so far.
Hopefully there won't be any need to call support too many times but reassuring to know that most people have had a good experience with them - more than can be said for a lot of ISPs out there."Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -

We usually have ridiculously bad luck with routers, so it is possible we were lucky but I doubt it! We don't really do anything major with our Internet, just some browsing and small amounts of downloading/iplayer watching. May be rubbish if you game though (just don't know). I suppose if I was buying a router I may go for something a lot more customisable and singing and dancing that this, it does seem quite basic. But it was free as we'd signed on for 12 months, and at worse we figured it would be a good backup router if it wasn't great and we had to buy a new one.
After coming from sky where you're locked into their routers it's nice to have the option of using whatever you like!Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind0 -
Well we'll see how it goes, had nothing but problems with the current Netgear routers supplied by Orange so hopefully might get lucky and it won't be as bad as that!
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but does anyone know how their house move fees work? I read it was £65 or deferred if you sign up to another 12 month contract - is this true?
Would this new 12 month contract mean the original 12 month half price broadband discount would be cancelled?
Maybe I'll have to ask that on the PN forum but if anyone knows on here that'd be great"Kids respect landlords. I think it's the keys."0 -
Hi there,
You're right about the house move fees, but it's a separate contract to the broadband so won't affect that or your existing discounts
Hope that helps,
Matt Taylor
