  • I'm nearly 30 (eek) and a trainer in health and social care. I trained as a dental nurse when I dropped out of my alevels, then started working with people with learning disabilities in a care setting. I've had care service management jobs, but definitely find training more inspiring!

Aged 43. Administrator in a Care Home. I think its a 'good' job.
I do work part time though.

Retrained for this after many jobs and when my son was in Junior school as I wanted a change of industry.

Jobs have included; Shop Assistant, kennel Maid, Waitress, Chambermaid, Leaflet Distributor, Cleaner and Catering Assistant.

By the way it might be nice if people state if they enjoy their job or not and if they are where they expected to be on the job ladder.

I enjoy mine, most of the time! Not sure its where I 'expected' to be but I was never that career minded.
    Back on the trains again!

  • In my very early thirties - and am a carer, it is feeling grim sometimes seeing exactly what happens or could happen as we'd get older

Much of my twenties was spent working in hotels the well known ones, where I worked my way up from Trainee Receptionist, went from selling of bums in beds to putting bums in bed lol!

At present trying to figure out if there is any other industry that could have me now as I don't feel my current job is sustainable, maybe I had a career shift change to late who knows :(:)

27, Software Developer and earns good money but dont enjoy my Job at all. Thinks about leaving almost every week but then 'What will i do' is the magic question and my internal fight starts again.

Would like to start my own business but dont know where to start. Have money, think i am smart thinker but that push to do things missing or afraid of taking risks maybe..

Not sure this is the kind of job to admit to in a respectable family friendly forum :T

I very much enjoy my work, it's not where I imagined I would end up when I started out in the world of work, but definitely where I want to be now, and where I wanted to be for a few years before I got this position. More money would be nice, but I think I'm paid fairly for what I do.

23, freelance editor. I run my own business and also work for an epublisher on the side. I enjoy the work, but the financial insecurity stresses me out. I worry about tax in particular.
