I can't agree with giving discounts based on "ability" to pay. All companies have to balance the books therefore other customers will inevitably pay more to fund these discounts. I noticed recently that 11% of my gas/electric bills go to fund social tariffs.
What next - rich and poor prices for petrol and diesel, then two prices on everything in the shops depending on our "abilty" to pay?
The government's Welfare system is designed to even things out somewhat, after which prices should be left to market forces.Never trust a financial institution.

It was a way to 'soften' the price rise
nothing to do with anyones ability to pay0

I'm on benefits because I'm disabled through no fault of my own, and any help like this is much appreciated. Thanks for the post! :T0

Also on disability benefits here, though I won't be taking up the offer, as I bought a hundred pounds worth of stamps at the time.0

Most moneysavers bought loads of stamps at the old price for Christmas.anyway.Child of a Fighting Race.0

At least people on benefits can afford to save their money. Most low wage workers cannot and are in far more need of assistance.
As context, yes, I bought 100pounds worth of stamps.
This is because I have to regularly send items recorded to the DWP and other bodies.
I think I've already used over half of them, never mind the cost of busses/taxi to get in to post them.
I can't get a driving licence due to my condition.
Much of the time getting the bus is tiring to the point where I become dangerously confused.
I happened to have 'spare' cash, due to a payment of backdated benefit.
I had over the previous winter been maintaining the house at a balmy 8c, because I'm doing so well on benefits.0

Then there wouldnt be a price rise....
Exactly, so the offer is only for those on certain benefits leaving the higher price for everyone else - which is in effect a two-tier price for the same product or service.
A very slippery slope which will come to grief. Divide and rule?Never trust a financial institution.
