Woodburning stove recommendations please

I love my firefox 8 TD and the 5 has great reviews. Under £4000

You can find user reviews at https://www.whatstove.co.uk
They do tend to suffer from post-purchase justification but it's fairly useful.0

I'd second the Aga Little Wenlock (£600), only one thing annoys me, is that some logs you buy aren't cut short enough to fit in, it is a little 4.7KW stove.
Very reliable, good heat, doesn't look bad either.0

We liked the idea of the double door style you see.
After much research - went for an Aarrow Sherbourne Small 5kw.
Very, very pleased with it. If you're just burning wood, then I'd recommend not going for a multi-fuel option regardless of the make. - The grate always seems to make the firebox size a lot smaller, as they sit quite high. The Aarrow is very controllable, and throws out a good amount of heat. The Sherborne Compact is rated at 5kw as well, but we thought that looked just too small, and the firebox seemed much smaller. You can easier get 12-13inch logs in ours. Oh and its made in the UK as well.0

This comment may have come too late but we deliberately went for a stove with a flat top so that we could heat a saucepan on it if the electricity went off. Had to use it once ... it's curious shining a torch into the saucepan to see if it's boiling. Our stove is a Clearview and we've had it 15 years - excellent design and quality.0

Our chimney has been swept and, although needing to be relined, is generally fine
I am guessing that you currently burn an open fire? What sort of fireplace do you currently have (ie how big)?
How do you know that your chimney needs relining?
Are you prepared to alter the fireplace, or do you want a stove which will sit in, or in front of, your existing fireplace?0

We do currently have an open fire. Our fireplace is big enough to fit all of the 5KW models that are on the market, but probably not much bigger. We've been told by a couple of HETAS installers that the max dimensions of our stove should be 600 wide x 550 high x 500 deep. We shouldn't need to alter the fireplace - it seems about the right size for our living room.
We've been told by the same installers that the chimney needs relining - we have gone on their word.
Thanks very much for your help.:)0

Thanks all for your comments so far. We've had a look at a few 5KW stoves and find some of them to be very small, so you'd need small logs to go in them. Doing simple volume sums (width x length x depth) there is a huge difference between them. The Charnwood C4 has half the volume of the Brosely Serrano 5, for example. But they all produce the same heat in theory, so it's down to personal taste I guess. We're debating between the Stovax Stockton 5 and the Yeoman Exe (Single Door).0

Having recently (re)opened the fireplace in our lounge having moved here a few months ago, we have spent the last 2 weeks deliberating on which woodburner to go for.
Decided on a Franco Belge Montfort Classic, £720 delivered but comes with about £100 of extras that would be needed (register plate, bottom pipe etc).
Great reviews, cast iron to retain heat and looks great. I am sure our cats will love it!0
