I didnt know Virgin sold Virgin 1 to sky. I recall Virgin 1 going from the platform with Atlantic coming in, but I had assumed their agreement with Virgin had finished and they chose not to renew / virgin were no longer offering it. Thanks for that.YNWA

Indeed that's what I thought. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

But my Virgin 20Mb (of up to "60" with an expectation of 90% according to the ads) doesn't seem faster than my Sky 5.4Mb (of is it "10" or "20"?)...
If your Virgin internet is consistently so much poorer than the speed you're paying for then I'd be ringing them up and complaining! Don't forget internet speed test sites are only a guide- the higher speeds really only come into their own when there are multiple users on at the same time.
I do agree that Virgin's "Superhub" doesn't provide a reliable wi-fi connection (which is why I use Homeplugs instead with the hub in modem mode)
All of which beggars the question; why on earth do you have internet from two suppliers?0 -
I took the plunge to get one of these suppliers as I am a F1 fan(don't laugh!). I researched thoroughly, and used some of the tips from MSE.
In my head I assumed I would get virgin as I was hearing good things about them, internet speed etc. The F1 sports channel was my priority. With Sky it is part of their HD range, with Virgin I HAD to get a sports package. even with the cheapest of cheapest Virgin deals to get even the basic TV channels plus my F1 Channel, it was nowhere as good as Sky's.
I rang both companies up.
Virgin seemed to have no interest in me saying I didn't want the sports package, could they help me in any way? No interest no deals nothing, very bored sounding person on the phone.
Sky was a totally different experience. Chatting about where I lived, the person on the phone said he could tell I lived in a block of flats, and explained, that as I had a shared satellite dish my HD couldn't do multi recording as I wanted an extra box in another room. So he didn't charge for my multi room box and only half price per month for the box over the next year. he threw in the HD package for half price over the first 6 months. I don't use the phone, so got the cheapest of deals just to get the line in, which is never used, and was free for the first 6 months. With unlimited internet as well.
Basically I now get everything bar movies and sport. have a multi room box. unlimited internet, everything I wanted.
Sky talked to me, did deal a with me, Virgin where not interested. To get what i have now with Sky, would have cost me almost double with Virgin.0
