Slow metabolism, I have a resting heartrate of less than 60, I have to exercise regularly to getthe rest of the metabolic fire burning well. Last time I had a health check I climbed 4 flights of stairs and my pulse was 79, I scored 10 on the bleep test on Saturday, which is pretty good for a guy in his 50s.
Water retention, I put on 3 stone on combined chemical therapy years ago, when I finished the course I spent the next 3 days in the smallest room every 30 or so minutes, I lost a stone and a half in 3 days all water.
Fat retention is possibly Insulin resistance, or metabolic syndrome, both curable by diet and exercise too.
Big bones make you taller so you are going to counter the extra weight by extra height.
Glands - I imagine eating sweetbreads all the time would put the beef on.
The old less in more out has been touted since before I was born, it's not working for many people, it's an easy option to blame them, the whole diet industry relies on this guilt tripping, judgemental shtick - who do you think is better to comment on the subject, highly qualified research scientists or some housewife with a franchise in a pyramid scheme that sells "diet water" ?

How many people who have an interest in their weight, have actually worked out what level of daily calorie intake is the "balance" levl for themselves?

All of which is liable for vat and thus much more expensive than buying raw inedients to make a meal.
Tax junk more heavily. It has been talked about. Raise vat on these products to 30% to save the NHS budget in 20 years time.
I cook the majority of our meals from scratch and I really don't think there is much evidence that it is cheaper than buying pre-processed. You can buy a tesco value cheese pizza for about £1. The cost of flour, yeast, tomato puree, herbs, garlic and cheese isn't going to be much cheaper and you replace 2 mins work with 30 mins work and waiting an hour for the yeast to work.
You can eat processed food, control your weight and have a balanced diet. You can also make your own food and end up overweight.Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...0 -

Apparently you're as ignorant about the price/health of food as they are :rotfl: 4 Mars bars costs £1.00 and is 1500 Calories. A packet of crisps costs virtually nothing but contains hundreds of calories. Soft drinks contain loads of calories.

It's pretty amusing that you say this in the same post that you chastise someone else for ignorance. I did it and was shocked to find I was allegedly eating too little, between the 5:2 IF and aiming for the low end of my target intake ranges of Calories, protein, fats and carbs I am seeing results (I am wearing a pair of trousers today I have never worn before as they didn’t even fasten when I got them).The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Besides that, food should be enjoyable and tasty, and if you'e eating just rice or pasta with veg and sauce each night, besides lacking in variety and certain proteins, it must be quite boring?
I doubt the nutritional content of veg is reduced to zero in one week. Do you think people have time to go food shopping every day?
I certainly don't find Indian/Thai curry, Chinese stir fry, chilli or spicy pasta "boring". I eat all international food apart from French (not vegetarian friendly).
I nipped into Tesco by the station last night. A tiny palmful of raspberries was £2.99. I know they're now out of season, but people see those labels and subconsciously associate fruit with high prices. There are ALWAYS crips, biscuits and booze on offer though.They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

I would suspect you a pretty rare in that.
The vast majority that say they want to loose weight are not prepared to sacrifice anything and are just pulled in by an industry that the "promises" you can eat all you like and still lose weight. In most cases that is just not the case.
For most of the world feeling a little peckish is something you live with and get used to. rather than immediately stuffing your face.0
