Can't spend on booze or ciggys! Of course, this will also prevent any access to illegal substances too.

Going to be a roaring black market trade to these individuals.

You might never know, they might Even get a job to pay for their filthy habits.

It's a very dangerous road to go down IMO. What about spending money in Maccas or on Sky TV or on butter rather than margarine?

So just go to the shops, buy "allowed" stuff with the card and sell it for half its RRP then buy cigs and booze with the cash...

I understand the concept, but if people want to smoke and drink they will and you can't stop them. If you don't want them spending benefits on booze and cigs then stop their benefits I suppose.

I very much doubt they will have any cash o eat at all if they do this... Cut benefits to the a solute breadline and its eat or smoke/drink. :T

In think in some cases controlling where benefit cash goes is justifiable. For instance if housing benefit is not being used to pay the rent.. But instead going on large widescreen televisions and playstations for example then there's an case for giving the rent money directly to the land lord.

I agree in general that the very concept could be rather insulting, yet there are people who'll "take the Michael" with benefit money.

But those who behave responsibly should carry on as normal.
    :www: Progress Report :www:
    Offer accepted: £107'000
    Deposit: £23'000
    Mortgage approved for: £84'000

  • Excellent idea - I would go as far as just giving them the basics - bread and water, maybe an orange at Christmas.

Often its the children in the family that suffer.........
  • I disagree it's often people around these awful fanilew that suffer. As soon as too yocals breed the seed is already rotten - no amount of money changes the outcome. On very few occasions one of these families produce a good egg but by in large !!!! breeds !!!!
