Has anyone ever done anything really really stupid?

I once walked into a door that I thought was open but it wasn't, full glass in bright sunshine not recommended at a works do too with customers and colleagues looking on.0

A few years ago I worked nights and in the summer it was really difficult to sleep in the daytimes between the high temperatues and the neighbours being out all day cutting the grass and other noisy activities. After four nights of this I was really tired and driving home I was too tired to continue on the motorway so came off to take other roads home to try and stay awake....
Coming through the town centre I fell asleep at the wheel heading towards one of the major junctions. The next thing I knew about it was when I was woken by my front wheel hitting the raised curb around the traffic lights that I had driven straight through.... Luckily I was on green and managed to pull over to the side of the road without hurting me or anyone else!
The front wheel was a complete write-off, but no other damage luckily. But no matter how nice the weather is outside, think about your neighbours that might be working nights0 -
This is an older thread but I just found it and thought I would add some of my disasters:
-bruv and I found a hand grenade at our family farm - I told bruv to pull the pin out! At a year older he obviously had a little more sense (6 and 7 we were I think) - turned out it was live and the bomb squad came and exploded it!!
-nearly lost my eyebrows daily 'blowing' to get the gas fire to ignite when I was young.
-Stabbed myself in the foot with a 4 pronged fork (farming type)
-painting my living room ceiling stood on a chair while living in a flat - summer time and windows wide open - you guessed it, the chair tipped and I just managed to stop myself falling straight out the full sized window to slabbed patio below!
-left the gas on all night accidentally at then bfs house in the kitchen below the room my daughter was in - woke up smelling gas and in a panic that id gassed her! She was fine and bf is now hubby and funnily enough we dont have gas lolLight Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0 -
Climbed the scaffolding on the outside of a massive block of flats on New Years Eve as me and the two lads as I was with could hear a party going on on the roof and we were drunk so it seemed like a good idea...once up there it turned out to be a party for the residents of a care home for disabled adults...who were very sweet and welcoming!
Swam across the Thames at midnight, again whilst drunk, only half way back I started to panic and the guy I was with had to drag me across with him. I am convinced I would be dead if it was not for him.
I shudder when I think of the risks I took when off my face as a teenager. Nowadays the riskiest thing I do is eat food past its sell by date....0 -
Accidentally paying £3k to HMRC by bank transfer that was meant to go to my son's account. THAT is very stupid!! Still waiting to get it back.....:o0

I do so many stupid things it's all blurred into what I just call "life"! I'm just one of those people.
When I was younger I used to set my hair and make up (i know) with hairspray then immediately go outside and use a lighter. Day after day... I don't know how I didn't get hideously scarred but I lost so many eyelashes/eyebrows/hairs and I just kept doing it.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Decided to be money saving and ly a bedroom carpet . Square room how hard could it be ? Proceeded to put metal Stanley knife through a electric cable behind wall and got electrocuted and thrown to other side of room  i was 8 months pregnant , not a good idea and the midwife thought i was mad , asked where my oh was at time, I had thrown him out of the room as he kept standing on the carpet.
Baby was fineLife should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0 -
On a school trip to Switzerland at the age of 15. My friends and I thought we were uber cool and so cosmopolitan and decided to take advantage of the sunshine by sunbathing topless on a grassy area across from our hotel. The fact that the grassy area was actually the garden of a Benedictine Monastery had for some reason escaped us.
Well, as luck would have some poor monk spotted us from a window and a major drama ensued, our German language skills turned out to be poorer than we thought and we had to be rescued by one of our teachers.
For a day or two we seriously though we were going to be sent home. Once we realised we weren't though we reverted to drinking illicit alcohol and climbing in and out of bedroom windows to get to the boys we were interested in.
Those poor teachers who accompanied us on the trip must have been gluttons for punishment!0 -
Shut the door when my mum was out and smashed the glass; but said - 'don't worry Mum I have fixed it with cornflake packets and parcel tape'. Ha!3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:
Happily Married since 20160 -
Ha,there's some great stories on here!
I went on a group outing once and a man I had liked for ages was there. It was Go Ape (out door adventure type event).I'm scared stiff of heights.I planned to watch and take photos but wanting to impress I decided to do it.Hells bells.Half way round I just couldn't go on.I was suspended mid air across a rope wire, sweating, palapations and holding the whole group up.I just couldn't move or even speak. After a long ordeal, involving getting talked through it by the handsome man I was ment to be dazzling I got down.
5 years on and were married, never have lived it down thou!0
