Do they update the software when they find out about things like this for people to download online free?
There was something on tv a few months ago about people being directed into a river in the country too. That looks like a tomtom one the one I was looking at and so was the one that directed people to the river.
I know they can't be 100% accurate but its not as though theres been a road change with those particular incidents is thereThanx

If you are buying a Tom Tom and want up-to-date maps, it may be worth holding off buying for a while, or checking the map version. The only Tom Tom with a guaranteed new map is the Tom Tome One XL, released in mid May.
The latest map is version 6.75. It has the new extended LONDON CONGESTION CHARGE ZONE, which is very important if you live or travel in London. If you buy a Tom Tom with older maps, you have to buy the new maps. Cost - €100 for the European Map, €60 for the UK map.
According to Tom Tom UK (8th May):The later maps should be available on the units in the coming month or, the latest map version is Map V 6.75. It is quite difficult to ensure the map version is on a device as sometimes stores sell older stock and so on. Please check in the device if possible that the unit has Map V 6.75
It took a couple of emails to get that info out of Tomtom, so I thought I would share it here.
I also know there is a feedback system whereby users can report errors to Tomtom via their website (try this link), and eventually they will check - sometimes by driving there - and this will eventually get filtered through to the maps, which may take about 6 months, I am told.
So if you are buying a Tomtom and an updated map is important to you, check the version is 6.75.
I am looking for a Tomtom One European with 6.75. If anyone has any feedback as to where they are on sale, I would really appreciate it.0 -
Thankyou for that mouseclick, with the tomtom one though it says V2 should that be v 6.75 too then in a few weeks?
Actually I did see the tomtom one xl on a website yesterday when I was looking so its out now but I don't really like the widescreen it has. I'm not sure of the extra features apart from that but its more money seemingly for the widescreen plus the up to date map, thats if it is up to date above the v2
I was just thinking about a tomtom one with the most up to date mapThanx

Hi Lady_K, I think you will find that V2 refers to the nice sleek slender new Version 2 Tomtom that you have, rather than the map version it contains. That's the one I want, with the latest 6.75 Euro maps!
This link will tell you how to check your map version0 -
Oh yes I see but this isn't easy to check is it when buying them over the net. Does this mean it has to be out of the box and turned on to find out? I wonder if its on the packaging if theres no other way of checking its a bit badThanx

Yes, that's exactly my problem, and a very good point! It would be good if we had a little something going here where people can tell us "I bought from online retailer X and got map version X.XX ". Of course it is no guarantee that someone else would get the same, but it's a pretty good indicator.
Inspired by your comment (hehe), I looked on the Tomtom website here and found (right hand side) that you can tell version from the product code. If you click on where can I find my product code they make a few suggestions such as- on the 'productcode card' in your TomTom box
- in your CD jewel case, behind your CD
- in your CD box, behind CD 2
Here are pictures of where the code is located for various products.
Unfortunately even if you get access to the product code, you will still need to type it into the Tomtom website. But to access it I think you will have to open the box, and if you get to that stage it may be just as easy to ask the retailer to turn it on. It is unlikely that any shop assistant would allow you to write down the product code, since it could then used to register an illegal copy of the map, rendering the code useless for the
buyer. So I guess the short answer to your question is "Yes, turning it on may be the easiest way".
It is also possible that Tomtom may put a sticker on the boxes of the new ones, to say "now with 2007 Map" or something. But of course they do not want to upset the retailers by distinguishing which is old and new stock. Thus, Caveat Emptor, let the buyer beware! Upcoming Tomtom sales may not be such a good deal after all, if you are getting them with older maps.
I am flying on Sunday, so I may ask at the airport duty free shop if I can see a demo of a Tomtom One Europe. If they don't have it, I guess I will just have to wait a while.0 -

No more, what was the name of that pub we went to? Remember that secluded beach we found, just tell Joe where it was!
Just take a picture. You don't have to remember addresses, you just find the picture and you can share them with your friends.
The signal pick up even indoors is great and the 4'' touch screen is nice and easy to see.

Hi Trooper
Does that Navman have the traffic updates built it or does it require the module?
Does it show the london congestion charging area too?
Thank you0
