Feeling a bit low today, Im my mums main carer. She fell in May and has been in and out of hospital since then. She fell again in August and has been in hospital ever since.
She was at home all the school holidays, and as a few of you may remember, i had a 'meltdown' at one point as I couldnt cope with helping her, running her houshold as well as mine, having three kids at home, doing the job of the incompetent professionals involved etc, as well as having to go in between carer visits and during the night.
Anyway, visits mum today, she says the physio has asked her to talk to me about what will happen if she cant go home. How can i tell my mum that I think she would be better in a home, its breaking my heart:(
I know she was not safe at home over the summer, we lurched from one crisis to another, and her ability and mobility is not as good as it was then, so I knew we might have to face this. Shouldnt it be up to the staff on the ward to asses her and advise her about if she can safely go home? Do I have to take on this responsibility and guilt as well?:(:(
On the plus side, I told her about the cheese glitch and she was very impressed:)0 -

How many blocks did you get?I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I got a CS SA to check on the system last time but it didn't come up as available for her, she rang a few other stores but they were the same.
I know I can't order it for delivery using my own postcode so not even bothered looking this time
It was the exact same pack and if what happened last time happens this time then it won't be £1 tomorrow.0 -

Can you talk to the staff to see what they might advise?
I have tried, but they keep throwing the ball back in my court and say talk to your mum about it yourself. They will not advise if they think she would be safe at home.0 -

A big thanks to the person that posted the cheese glitch, I'm really grateful. I managed to get a couple of packs this evening. They were the last one's left. I was so pleased as I thought I'd missed out. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

Sorry about how things are, would expect your mum knows herself that she can't cope on her own, why not ask her what she thinks the best soloution would be if returning to her own home is out of the question, she might hope to come stay with you.
I tried to ask her what she felt about thinsg today but just got very vague answers. She said things like 'its difficult to know what to do, the nurses will have to sort out a bed for me in a home and that will be extra work for them'
So she hasnt got much of a grasp of things really. when she has been more 'with it' she has said she doent want to give her bungalow up as she loves it, and she often has unrealistic ideas about how she can manage, her insight is limited.
Even the Sw says she will not get involved about assessing her until Ive/we have decided what to do!0
