I have a very fussy eater in my dd. She picks and chooses what and when, and really reminds me of my sister when she was about that age. I used to get really stressed about it, but I've found that the less fuss I make about it then the easier it's gotten.
She went through a phase where she would only eat tinned ravioli or leek and potato soup. And it didn't matter what the rest of us were eating she'd have that. Then she'd get bored of it and refuse to eat it.
We now have a rule in place that she has to at least try what the rest of us are having, and if she doesn't like it then that's fine, but she can only have 1 food as a back up at a time (at the moment it's weetabix). It was awful at first and I was finding she was eating her emergency food almost every night, but as time has gone on and I've stuck to my guns she's started eating more variety. She'll have most of what we eat now, and her favourite meal is spaghetti bolognese, which I'd never have dreamed of a year or two ago.
It really is finding what works for you though. I posted on the os board about it and got loads of strategies to try...Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Hi Diaryland
Today is the first day of my serious weightloss plan! We have booked the holiday so I need to get cracking in beating the bulge as I have 4 months left. I have about 3.5 stone to lose! So I am aiming for about 2 and I would be over the moon.
I am going to do something similar to the vlcd diet and see how it goes. If it doesn't seem to work I will do it officially!
So a slim fast shake this morning, soup for lunch, a piece of fruit and sugar free jelly as a snack and then white meat or fish for dinner. At present I am drinking 2 litres of water at work so I will up that slightly by drinking water at home too rather than a load of tea and coffee.
God this week will be tough!!!!! Trying to fit in exercise is a pain with work but I'm sure I can work something out!
So pleased with the holiday we have booked! £1500 for 2 weeks in Salou in Spain. Hotel on the beach and full board for 4 of us. Got to get DD2 a new passport and I have to decide if I want to spend money changing mine to my married name when I still have 8 years left on it!!
Hubby had a lovely birthday yesterday. He got a lot of clothes which was nice. His son stayed over so we went out to try his sons new remote control car on the sandy burrows near ours. It was a bit brisk but fun. Then over to MILs for dinner and cake. So quite MSE
Wannabe- thanks for your post. Sounds like you have handled your fussy eater really well. I need to work out a set of rules to stick with which me and hubby both stick to. I really don't want her dreading mealtime

Hello ladies.
I haven't been on very much lately. I feeling like the debt busting has had to hold off while we pay for the holiday. I am really glad we are going but wish I could get rid of the loan first :-( I was tempted to put the holiday on a card and pay off the loan first as getting rid of it is a psychological thing. But it wouldn't make money sense.
Good news is hubby has paid of the Xmas stuff we had to put on a card and the£300 car bill.
Trying to have a frugal Feb-April to help. The loan should be gone at my June pay check its just a shame that it would have been the end of March :-(
Paid £200 off the holiday last night. £1300 remaining. Also paid £21 for a Travelodge to stay the night before the flight.
Will put holiday amount in my sig I think. Technically it is a debt as it is due in a month. Makes me feel like it is debt busting! :-)
Nice to 'see' you Choc. Looking forward to your return :-)
Diet is going well. I lost 5lbs in my first week. I weigh on a Monday so I am hoping it is at least another 2lbs. This is the best my will power has ever been! I am saying no to bad things left right and centre.
I am currently have a shake for breakfast, hm soup for lunch or a tuna salad, then meat and veg or tuna salad for dinner. I'm drinking 2.5-3 litres of water a day.
I'm not finding it too hard but I need to fit some exercise in somewhere!
Right I'm ready to get off the bus now. Speak soon xOrange Fairy
