It could be MF50... was it small? "Spray-painting" on the pigment is the last part of the egg-making process so depigmentation could happen in a newbie whose egg-lating gear isn't working properly yet or if the hen is stressed. I think copper blacks are maran hybrids and I've read somewhere that a maran's eggs are normally darker for the first couple of weeks before they settle down to their normal colour.Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

I can see I'm going to lose hours in my day following all the great diaries on MFW - might keep me away from the shops!:rotfl:0 -

As MWC - I would have loved it for you to be a me:kisses3:
Howz the galz today? I hope they're keeping cosy and snuggling up. Speaking of warmth and moving on to the summer, I was wondering if you would consider buying them a paddling pool to play in?
They could have cool pool parties and be 'it' chickens:DFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

The newbies are fine - I don't get to see much of them during the week
I think the big girls are still being mean to them
:( as there is chicken poop on the coop roof (they must be jumping up there to get out of the way)

Judging by the amount of poop, the newbies are spending a lot of time on the roof out of the way of the big girls. I'll be spending the weekend working on the introductions (and scrubing the coop...)Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
