Making chicken feed of my mortgage

  • Can I ask an egg related question? We found a strange egg today which looks like an egg with all of the pigment taken out of it. We think it came from one of the copper blacks. Could this be a first egg?

It could be MF50... was it small? "Spray-painting" on the pigment is the last part of the egg-making process so depigmentation could happen in a newbie whose egg-lating gear isn't working properly yet or if the hen is stressed. I think copper blacks are maran hybrids and I've read somewhere that a maran's eggs are normally darker for the first couple of weeks before they settle down to their normal colour.

  • oh lordy... I very nearly did "a Natty" this afternoon... just as I was about to leave the washroom I caught sight of myself in the mirror and was able to untuck the back of my dress... PHEW :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Thank you! That is really helpful, hopefully we shall see over the next couple of days which it is.

Another great diary - makes me hungry tho all this talk of eggs and wonderful meal plans! Not doing my diet any good at all.

I can see I'm going to lose hours in my day following all the great diaries on MFW - might keep me away from the shops!:rotfl:

As MWC - I would have loved it for you to be a me:kisses3:

Howz the galz today? I hope they're keeping cosy and snuggling up. Speaking of warmth and moving on to the summer, I was wondering if you would consider buying them a paddling pool to play in?

They could have cool pool parties and be 'it' chickens:D
    February13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
    MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D
    C'mon nattypants:cool:
  • The newbies are fine - I don't get to see much of them during the week :( I think the big girls are still being mean to them :(:( as there is chicken poop on the coop roof (they must be jumping up there to get out of the way)

Not sure that they would like a paddling pool Natty although Miss M would love a water feature :) She goes mad for running water - strange chicken :rotfl:

    In other news:

    - today was a NSD
    - I received my £10 B&Q voucher from Consumer Pulse
    - 2 eggs (Miss M and Miss H)
    - broccoli, cannellini bean & pasta soup for dinner

    - I received confirmation that my ISA that had dropped to 1% interest has been transferred to a higher interest ISA
    - £24 has been mysteriously transferred into one of our savings accounts from an account I don't recognise
    - no valentine's loveydoveyness here although I'm sure I can talk Mr MWC into warming my side of the bed tonight ;)

  • Today's news:

    - a NSD (as was yesterday)
    - steak & chips for dinner
    - 4 eggs, yes 4 eggs today :j (Miss B, Miss D, Miss H and Miss M)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021

  • Judging by the amount of poop, the newbies are spending a lot of time on the roof out of the way of the big girls. I'll be spending the weekend working on the introductions (and scrubing the coop...)
